Chapter2

Amanda's POV The moment I truly looked at her, something inside me tightened. She wasn't dressed like someone who had wandered in by accident. Her coat was tailored perfectly to her figure, the fabric expensive but understated. A silk blouse peeked out beneath it, soft ivory against flawless skin. Diamond studs glimmered subtly at her ears — not flashy, just refined. Her heels made no sound on the marble floor. She stood in Andrew's office as if she belonged there. As if she had always belonged there. Even the way she touched the desk — light fingers grazing the papers, straightening a file absentmindedly — felt natural. Controlled. Familiar. And suddenly, I felt like the guest. That realization burned. She wasn't young, not like me. There were faint traces of maturity at the corners of her eyes, the subtle confidence of someone who had lived, who had seen the world. But she was still beautiful — devastatingly so. Not fragile beauty. Commanding beauty. The kind that didn't need to try. I knew Andrew attracted many she-wolves. Ever since he became Alpha, they circled constantly. At ceremonies, at banquets, during pack gatherings — smiling too brightly, laughing too loudly. But this woman was different. She wasn't circling. She walked straight into his space. And claimed it. My curiosity sharpened. Who are you? Why do you look so calm here? Why does it feel like you know this place better than I do? Then she said it. "I've been living in Manhattan." Manhattan. The word struck me like lightning. I froze. Because I had heard whispers before. Late at night. During pack dinners. From elders who thought I wasn't listening. There had once been a woman. A woman Andrew pursued for years. A woman who never accepted him. A woman who lived in Manhattan. Serena. His unattainable white moonlight. I had asked him about her once — casually, carefully. He dismissed it. "She's in the past." But his eyes had shifted when he said it. Now this woman stood in front of me. Elegant. Composed. Wearing a necklace from our pack treasury — the necklace he had refused to give me. And she said she had known him since he was young. She knew his birthday. She knew he was at the border before I even said it. She spoke about him like she understood him better than I did. My chest tightened painfully. The necklace gleamed against her skin. I recognized it immediately. The Crescent Wolf heirloom. I had asked him for it last year during the full moon celebration. He told me, "Not yet." Not yet. But he gave it to her. That alone was enough to confirm everything. Andrew never gives something precious without meaning. He had loved Serena for years. Everyone knew that. And now she was back. Of course she would come back now — when he was Alpha. When he had power. Status. A pack. My mind raced. If she stays… If she speaks to him alone… If those old feelings resurface… My position— No. I clenched my fists. I would not allow it. There is only one Luna of the Silver Moon Pack. Me. I watched the way she moved around the office — touching the frame, smiling at his desk like she had memories here. The possessiveness inside me roared. She thinks she can walk back into his life. She thinks history gives her rights. She thinks she can take what I built. Not while I'm here. Andrew wasn't in the pack today. He was at the border. Which meant this was my moment. If I let her leave now, she would return. If I let her speak to him, I might lose him. I couldn't risk it. I had to make her go. Make her understand this territory wasn't hers. Make her afraid enough to never come back. As I looked at her calm smile, something hardened inside me. Serena. You chose to leave once. You don't get to return and take him now. Not from me. Samantha's POV "Stop pretending, Serena." Her voice no longer carried confusion. It carried certainty. "If you came here to claim him, you chose the wrong woman to challenge." Her chest rose violently with each breath. "Since you refuse to leave… don't blame me for what happens next." Before I could step back, she lunged. Her fingers tangled violently into my hair. Pain shot across my scalp. "Stop!" I gasped, instinctively grabbing her wrist. "You've made a mistake—" She yanked harder. I stumbled forward, my heels scraping uselessly against the polished marble floor. "You think I'm stupid?" she screamed. "Manhattan! The necklace! Knowing his birthday!" "I am not Serena!" I cried, struggling against her grip. She was younger, stronger than I expected. Fury gave her strength I couldn't match. With a sudden shove, she pushed me backward. I lost my balance. The back of my shoulder struck the edge of Andrew's desk before I hit the ground hard. A sharp ache shot through my hip. "You're still lying!" she shrieked, towering over me. "You said you've known him for years. You said you live in Manhattan. You're wearing that necklace!" She dropped down and seized my wrist, her nails digging painfully into my skin. "Do you think I'm blind?" "Wait!" I tried to pull free. "At least tell me who Serena is so I can understand what you're accusing me of!" She laughed — not amused, but hysterical. "Playing innocent?" she mocked. "Andrew loved you for years. Years. And you rejected him. Now you show up on his birthday to flaunt yourself in his office like you own him?" "You've completely misunderstood!" I shouted, my voice shaking. Her hand came out of nowhere. Smack. The sound echoed in the office. My head snapped to the side as heat exploded across my cheek. For a second, I couldn't even process what had happened. "You b***h!" she spat. "You dare lie to my face?" My ears rang. My hair had come loose from its clip, falling across my face. I tasted metal in my mouth where my teeth had caught my lip. She was still shouting — words blurring together — accusations, rage, territorial claims. Through the haze, it finally clicked. She truly believes I am someone from Andrew's past. Serena. This wasn't jealousy. This was fear. Fear of losing him. I had to stop this. "I can prove it!" I managed, my fingers trembling as I reached into my coat pocket. "If you would just calm down for a moment—" I pulled out my phone. Before I could unlock it— She snatched it from my hand. "What is this?" she demanded furiously.
