“Ms. Clayton?” the auctioneer called to her, “May we accept the bid?” She took a deep breath and looked out at the crowd. “Yes,” she said loudly. “We accept the bid. All forty thousand. Nothing is too much for the clinic.” The crowd went into a loud uproar with applause all over the place. The auctioneer rapped his gavel on the counter and yelled, “Sold, for forty thousand dollars…” “Starting tonight?” I loudly reminded them. “Yes, let’s start tonight and get whatever this is over with,” JuliAnn growled. “Forty-five thousand dollars for forty-eight hours of private submission from JuliAnn Clayton, starting tonight at midnight!” He looked over at her to verify.
