EpilogueWe had just arrived at the Bethesda house with our suitcases. FedEx should be here tomorrow with the rest of Pat’s things. She didn’t have a lot but too much to take on a plane. We had spent almost a week, packing and planning, then washing and making the apartment look rent-able again. She wouldn’t leave it with even a speck of dust. All her furniture and things she no longer would need were sent to Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries, and she had a receipt for seven thousand dollars. We’d sat and apologized to Jean and discussed what would happen at the Boston Parlor. She wished Pat luck and patted me on the shoulder.
