The nurse at the station looks up. "Family of Marcus Vaughn?"
"I'm his son," Caleb says. Breathing hard.
"Room 347. But his condition is critical. The doctor will brief you first."
The Doctor appears, same one from before.
"Mr. Vaughn. Your father had another massive stroke. We've done everything we can. He's conscious but barely. He's asking for you. You have maybe ten minutes. I'm sorry."
Caleb nods. He can't speak.
The doctor looks at me. "Only immediate family."
"She's carrying my son. Marcus's grandson. She's family."
