I didn’t sleep that night. I couldn’t bring myself to sleep after everything that had happened. Not really. Everything was weighing heavy on me so much that I couldn’t even focus on one thing. My brain was racing, going through different scenarios, playing out each one like a movie on repeat. I stared at the ceiling for hours, letting the silence press against my skin like a weight I couldn’t quite shake off. The bond still burned warm in my chest, not painfully, but powerfully.
