“Alright Kyla,” Oliver said, his voice calm but firm. “Let’s try again. This time I want you to do exactly what Rome walked you through, but instead of fanning the fire a lot, I want you to fan it just slightly.” I stared at him, not sure where this was supposed to go. I had made it clear that I didn’t want to hurt anyone and here he was telling me to do it again. Oliver rolled his eyes, “This isn’t about being scared. This is about being able to control the flames. Control them, don’t let them control you,” he said again, arms crossed as he watched me with a calculating gaze.
