Chapter Seven The stakeout building is far more run-down than the station, with a few boarded-up windows and a general scruffy appearance. It fits in with the rest of the street in a number of ways, which is probably why it's been picked. No one around here will look twice at it, which will hopefully mean they won't notice they're being spied on. In theory. I hope it turns out to be true. The front door has a keypad, but it only takes me a few seconds to notice the lock isn't attached to the door properly. I push past it and head for the stairs, taking them quickly until I get to the top floor. The inside doesn't look any better than the outside, with peeling wallpaper and stained carpets.
