Me: Wait, did you pull one of your tricks again? Lor: (laughs) You know me too well. Anyway, gotta go; my baby is here to pick me up. Me: How about we hit the club tonight before school starts? Lor: Yes, now you're talking. Be ready at 21:00, and if SIL Hlehle can't make it, that's okay. We'll catch up another time. Bye! With plans to hit the club forming, I can't help but feel a spark of excitement despite the lingering thoughts about my own love life. LISA It was nearly 9 o'clock, and I was buzzing with anticipation as I readied myself for our night out at the club. I chose my attire carefully, opting for a sleek black Adidas tracksuit paired with a crisp white t-shirt and my trusty Nike white Air Force shoes. The combination made me feel both comfortable and stylish, perfect for a night of dancing and fun. My phone buzzed, and I saw Lorraine's name flashing on the screen. Lori: "Come out, we're waiting outside your gate." Me: "Okay, I'm on my way." I descended the stairs, my excitement growing with each step. On my way out, I spotted my brother smoking weed. I greeted him with a nod and continued on my way, knowing it wasn't the time for a lengthy conversation. Reaching the gate, I found Luncumo's car waiting there, its engine humming. I climbed into the car, ready to start our night of adventure, and we set off to pick up Okuhle, knowing that this evening held the promise After picking up Okuhle, we made our way to the club for an unforgettable night. The pulsating music and vibrant atmosphere were the perfect backdrop to celebrate our recent engagement and simply enjoy each other's company. As the night wore on, the energy in the club was infectious. Amid the dancing and laughter, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the incredible friends who surrounded me. But as the evening progressed, my drink ran dry, and I decided to make my way to the bar for another. The night was still young, after all. However, fate had other plans in store. As I navigated the crowded club, I suddenly collided with someone. I turned to face the person who had bumped into me, and my breath caught in my throat. She had captivating brown eyes, a striking black afro, and a figure that seemed almost too perfect. I couldn't help but admire her beauty. She snapped her fingers, drawing my attention back to reality. Her: Hey, I'm sorry for what just happened. It shouldn't have happened. She spoke with sincerity, her eyes locking onto mine. Me: It's fine. Her: My name is Iyana Ngqongwa. I'm new to this town, so I'd really like to get to know you. Me: Nice to meet you, Iyana. I'm Lisathitha Lubone Jones, and just so you know, I'm a lesbian. Her: (She smiled warmly) I love the name "Lubone" Me: Can I get your phone number so we can talk? Right now, I need to go back to my friends at the bar. Her: Of course, it's no problem. She handed me her phone number, and I made my way to the bar, feeling a sense of excitement about this unexpected encounter. However, as I glanced back at her, I noticed someone familiar among her group of friends. My curiosity was piqued, and I couldn't shake the feeling that fate had just thrown me a fascinating twist in the night's story. After the memorable encounter with Iyana at the club, my friends and I eventually decided it was time to call it a night. We each headed to our respective homes, knowing that the evening had left a lasting impression on all of us. As I made my way back home, I couldn't help but replay the events of the night in my mind. The music, the laughter, and the chance meeting with Iyana had all added up to create an unforgettable experience.Upon arriving home, I found my brother, Inga, still up and engaged in a conversation with his best friend, Liyema. Quietly, I greeted them both and made my way to my room. Sitting down at my desk, I pulled out my phone and looked at the number Iyana had given me earlier. With a sense of anticipation, I sent her a quick text message, introducing myself again and expressing my interest in getting to know her better. As I hit send, I couldn't help but wonder what the next chapter of this unexpected connection would hold. I fell asleep while waiting for Iyana's response. Next Day IYANA I woke up and prepared for school. I was very nervous as it was my first day at a new school, and it was already mid-year. Yesterday had been an exciting evening, especially meeting that cute lesbian. She was undeniably handsome. Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Iyana Ngqongwa, living with my parents and big brother. My brother seems to harbor some bitterness toward me for reasons I don't understand, but I've grown accustomed to it. My mom barged into my room, startling me. Mom: "You're still asleep, Iyana?" Me: "No, Mom, I was just imagining how today would be." Mom: "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll make good friends there." Me: "Thanks, Mom, but you need to get out. I need to shower now." Mom chuckled and left my room. I proceeded to take a warm shower, put on my school uniform, and went downstairs for breakfast. The dining table was set with my favorite dishes today – fries, viennas, russians, bacon, eggs, and toasted bread. I savored my meal while waiting for my father to take me to school. *************** LISA I arrived at school and noticed a black Porsche in the parking lot, similar to my brother's. I didn't pay much attention, as I was accustomed to such cars. I made my way to class, entered, and took my seat. The teacher arrived, followed by someone I couldn't see clearly but whose voice sounded strangely familiar. I continued reading my notes. Teacher: "Good morning, everyone. Today, we have a new student joining our class. Please introduce yourself to your new classmates." Her: "Good morning, everyone. My name is Iyana Ngqongwa." I saw Luncumo looking at me, clearly amazed by what he had just heard. I, too, was taken aback. What an incredible coincidence! The teacher asked if there was an available seat for Iyana, and Lura pointed to an empty space next to me. Luncumo, who had been smirking, looked even more intrigued. The teacher instructed Iyana to sit next to me, and she did, flashing me a friendly smile. After the teacher left, I struck up a conversation with Iyana. Me: "Hey." Her: "Hi, what a coincidence it is. I never thought we would meet again so soon, and as classmates." She chuckled. Me: "Yes. Why didn't you respond to my message yesterday?" Her: "My mom took my phone last night." Me: "Oh, okay, I didn't know." We continued to chat until it was time for the break. Iyana stood up and went to the cafeteria. Luncumo came over to me, wearing a knowing smile, which caught me off guard. We made our way to the cafeteria, where we found our friends at our usual table. Lura: "So you won't tell us about her?" She pointed to Iyana at the table with her friends. Me: "What should I tell you?" Lori: "Come on, sis, we want to know what's going on between the two of you." Me: "Nothing, we're just friends." Before I could finish talking, someone approached us – it was Kyle, my ex-girlfriend. Kyle: "Hey, everyone." She smiled. "Uh, Lisa, can I talk to you?" Me: "Yeah." I stood up, and we went to a quieter corner. Kyle: "Lisa, please stay away from Iya." She held my hands. Me: "Why should I?" Kyle: "Because you'll hurt her, just like you did to me." Me: "Don't worry; I've changed, and we're not dating." Kyle: "But you might date as time goes by." Me: "We won't." Kyle: "Let's hope so. Bye." She left me standing there. When I turned, I saw Iyana looking at me, seemingly annoyed. She approached me. Iya: "So, Kyle is one of your girlfriends?" Me: "No, but one of my exes. Why do you ask? Or are you jealous?" I teased her. Iya: "No, I'm not. Bye." Me: "Bye." I returned to my friends, who were all looking at me with curiosity. Lorraine finally couldn't resist asking. Lori: "What did Kyle want?" Me: "She wants me to stay away from Iyana." Lori: "Ugh, she's jealous. I also noticed how Iyana was looking at the both of you when you were talking there." Me: "She came to ask me." Lori: "Okay. Let's head back to class; break time is over." We all returned to our respective classes. As I entered the classroom, I found Iyana sleeping at her desk. I woke her up and started a conversation. Me: "Why are you sleeping?" Iya: "Just tired. I need to hit the library." Me: "Okay, I thought something more serious might be going on." Iyana laughed, and our unexpected connection continued to grow. After the lessons ended, Iyana went straight to the library since she wanted to attend a reading session. As I walked to the school gate, Neo approached me. " Lisa, ain't you coming for the reading session?" he said, raising his eyebrows. "Oh no, I forgot." I said, touching my forehead. "Come soon, you've to assist me with handing out books for those who want to borrow some." he said then went back to the library. I was shocked by his demand but then I am also a library monitor so I have to fulfill my responsibility. I followed Neo to the library. I arrived at the library and went to the lockers to put my school bag there. I went to Neo and he introduced me to the others who were attending the library reading session. We started handing out the novels but it's a short novel with only about 195 words. While handing out the novels, I saw Iyana talking to Neo. I don't know what happened to me but I felt angry when I was about to go to them. I stopped myself since I remembered that I am not Iyana's girlfriend. I finished handing out books and someone called me. I turned around and went to that person. It's Iyana. "Oh hey, Lubone", she greeted me smiling. "Hey Iya" I replied with a sad and cold voice. " I didn't get the book, can I have one," she asked, smiling again. "Yes, here you go," I handed her the one I had on my hand. I went back to Neo and we started the session. We read chapter one and finished it then analyzed the first chapter. Iya was the one who was answering the most and that made me more impressed. The reading session ended and I took my bag from my locker and went out of the library. I heard footsteps coming behind me. I stopped for a while to request an Uber. Someone tapped my shoulder and I turned, it was Iyana. "Lubone, why are you in a rush ," she asked, trying to catch her breath. " I am not in a rush, I am just tired." I said annoyed " Oh no, my brother left me. My mother will shout at me." she said looking at her phone. Before I could talk to her, my phone rang. I checked it, and it's Inga. I answered. "Lisa, the gardener, is coming with the car. You will take it and come home if you were planning on coming home." he said. "Thank you big brother, I saw you big time. Bye." I dropped the call . Iya was staring at me with questioning eyes. I looked at her and smiled. "Don't worry Yaya, you've got a ride home." I said smiling. "What! How? Do you have a car?" she asked, confused and worried. "No, it's my family’s car but my brother sent the gardener to come and park it here then I will drive home." I said Iyana had stopped worrying now. She took my hand and placed it into hers. We went to the school gate holding hands. As we made our way out of the gate, the gardener arrived with the car and he gave me the keys. He took a taxi home as he stayed nearby. I opened the door for Iyana and went to the driver's seat and drove Iyana home. On the way, Iyana turned on the radio. The radio hosts were playing games with the listeners. Iyana turned the volume up so that we can hear the rules of the game and how it is played. The radio host said the game was truth or dare. Iyana sent a message through Twitter saying she wants to play also. The game started and many people were playing. I went to McDonald's drive thru since I was hungry and I am sure Iya was also hungry. The drive thru was full of cars so we had to wait. The game continued then it was Iyana's turn to play.
