1687 Words
Mia's heart skipped a beat. Was she really going to do this? Was she really going to go behind Bryan's back and attend Ryder's party? But as she looked at Ryder, she knew that she couldn't resist. She was going to take a chance, and see where things went. "I'll be ready," Mia said, smiling up at Ryder. As Ryder walked away, whistling a tune, Mia turned to Bryan. "What's going on, Bryan?" she asked, her voice low. "Why don't you want me to go to Ryder's party?" Bryan's eyes narrowed. "I just don't trust him, okay? He's trouble, Mia. And I don't want you to get hurt." Mia raised an eyebrow. "You're not my father, Bryan. I can take care of myself." Bryan's face twisted in frustration. "Fine, Mia. Do what you want. But don't say I didn't warn you." As Bryan walked away, Mia felt a pang of guilt. Was she really going to go behind his back and attend Ryder's party? But as she thought about Ryder, and the way he made her feel, Mia knew that she couldn't resist. She was going to take a chance, and see where things went. Mia couldn't deny the thrill of excitement that ran through her veins as she thought about attending Ryder's party. She was a freshman, and the idea of going to a party with the most popular senior in school was almost too tempting to resist. Plus, she had to admit that she wanted to prove to herself that she was more than just Bryan's best friend. She wanted to show herself that she was desirable, that she was worth noticing. And who better to notice her than Ryder, the mysterious and charming senior who seemed to be interested in her? Mia knew that Bryan didn't feel the same way about her, and it was time for her to move on. Maybe Ryder was the perfect distraction, the perfect way to get over her unrequited love for Bryan. As she got ready for bed that night, Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. She was going to Ryder's party, and she was going to make the most of it. Little did she know, her decision would set off a chain of events that would change everything. The day of the party arrived, and Mia's excitement was palpable. She spent hours getting ready, trying on different outfits and doing her hair and makeup. As she looked in the mirror, she barely recognized the person staring back at her. She looked older, more confident, and more beautiful than she ever thought possible. Ryder arrived at her doorstep at 7pm sharp, looking dashing in his black shirt and jeans. Mia's heart skipped a beat as he handed her a bouquet of flowers and smiled charmingly. "You look stunning, Mia," he said, his eyes roaming over her outfit. "I'm glad you could make it tonight." Mia blushed, feeling a flutter in her chest. "Thanks, Ryder. You look pretty great yourself." As they drove to Ryder's house, Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness. What would the party be like? Would she fit in with Ryder's friends? But as they arrived at the party, Mia's nerves began to dissipate. The music was loud, the lights were flashing, and the atmosphere was electric. Ryder took her hand, leading her through the crowds of people. Mia felt a rush of excitement as he introduced her to his friends, who all seemed to know and adore him. As the night wore on, Mia found herself having the time of her life. She danced, laughed, and even shared a few stolen moments with Ryder, who seemed to be growing more and more charming by the minute. But as the clock struck midnight, Mia's thoughts began to wander back to Bryan. What would he say if he knew she was at Ryder's party? Would he be jealous? Mia pushed the thoughts aside, determined to enjoy the rest of the night. She was having the time of her life, and she wasn't going to let Bryan ruin it for her. As she turned to Ryder, who was watching her with a knowing glint in his eye, Mia felt a shiver run down her spine. What was going to happen next? He tried to make a move on Mia, but she turned him down. Trying to brush it off like it was no big deal....like it was his first time trying to make a move on her - he waved it up. After that party, he dropped her off at her place. The next day, he saw Bryan walking down the hallway and asked him if he could date Mia...... As Mia approached Bryan and Ryder, they stopped talking, and Bryan looked at her with a neutral expression. "What's going on?" Mia asked, trying to sound casual. Ryder smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Just having a conversation with Bryan," he said. Mia raised an eyebrow. "About what?" Bryan shrugged. "Nothing important." Ryder chuckled. "Actually, Bryan, I think it's something important." Bryan's eyes narrowed slightly, and he glanced at Mia before looking back at Ryder. "What is it?" Mia asked, feeling a sense of curiosity. Ryder took a deep breath. "I asked Bryan if his relationship with you was just platonic," he said. Mia's eyes widened in surprise. "What?" Ryder smiled. "I wanted to know if I had a chance with you." Mia felt her heart skip a beat. "What did Bryan say?" Ryder chuckled. "He said yes, that his relationship with you was just platonic." Bryan looked at Mia, his eyes expressionless. Mia felt a sense of confusion. Why had Bryan said that? Ryder took another deep breath. "I have to admit, Mia, I'm really interested in you. I'd love to date you." Mia's heart skipped another beat. "Ryder, I..." Ryder held up his hand. "I know, I know. You're not sure. But I want to ask Bryan's permission to date you." Mia's eyes widened in surprise. "What?" Ryder smiled. "I know Bryan is like an elder brother to you, and I respect that. So, I want to ask his permission to date you." Bryan looked at Ryder, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Why are you asking me?" he said. Ryder smiled. "Because I respect your relationship with Mia, and I want to make sure you're okay with it." Mia felt a sense of confusion. Why was Ryder asking Bryan's permission? Bryan looked at Mia, his eyes expressionless. "It's up to Mia," he said finally. Ryder smiled. "Great. Mia, will you think about it?" Mia nodded, feeling a sense of overwhelm. She hadn't expected Ryder to ask Bryan's permission to date her, and she wasn't sure how to react. "Okay, I'll think about it," Mia said finally. Ryder smiled, looking relieved. "Great, thanks Mia. I'll talk to you later." As Ryder walked away, Mia turned to Bryan. "What just happened?" she asked. Bryan shrugged. "Ryder asked my permission to date you." Mia raised an eyebrow. "And you said it was up to me?" Bryan nodded. "Yeah, I did." Mia felt a sense of confusion. Why had Bryan said that? Didn't he care that Ryder was interested in her? "Bryan, can I ask you something?" Mia said. Bryan nodded. "What is it?" Mia took a deep breath. "Do you have feelings for me?" Bryan's expression didn't change, but Mia saw a flicker of something in his eyes. "What makes you think that?" Bryan asked. Mia shrugged. "I don't know, I just get the feeling that you do." Bryan sighed. "Mia, I...I care about you deeply. You're my best friend, and I don't want to lose you." Mia's heart skipped a beat. Was Bryan saying that he had romantic feelings for her? "Bryan, what are you trying to say?" Mia asked. Bryan looked at her, his eyes serious. "I'm saying that I don't want you to date Ryder. I don't think he's good for you." Mia felt a sense of surprise. Why was Bryan so opposed to her dating Ryder? "Why not?" Mia asked. Bryan shrugged. "I just don't think he's the right guy for you. You deserve someone better." Mia felt a sense of confusion. Was Bryan saying that he thought he was the right guy for her? "Bryan, I need some time to think," Mia said finally. Bryan nodded. "Okay, take all the time you need." As they walked home, Mia asked Bryan if he was free to help her finish her science project. Bryan agreed, and they headed to his house. When they arrived, Bryan realized he had forgotten that his parents were out for a meeting and his older brother was not home. They decided to take a break and relax. As Mia opened her bag to get her science tools, she found the lab reports they had worked on during school. They decided to put aside their schoolwork for the time being and just enjoy each other's company. They went to the living room, got some wine, and mixed it together. As they drank, Mia tried to kiss Bryan, but he shoved her away. "We're just friends, Mia," Bryan said firmly. "I don't feel that way about you." Mia's face burned with anger and humiliation. "What's wrong with me?" she demanded. "Why don't you like me?" Bryan sighed. "Mia, it's not that I don't like you. It's just that...I value our friendship more." Mia's anger boiled over, and she stood up. "Fine! I'll just leave then!" But then she stopped and turned around. "Wait, I thought you forgave me?" Bryan looked up at her, surprised. "I did, Mia. What's going on?" Mia took a deep breath. "Okay, fine. I'll confess. I really like you, Bryan. I'm in love with you. But I decided to suppress my feelings because I value our friendship more." Bryan's expression changed, and he looked at Mia with newfound awareness. He wanted to hug her and kiss her, but he didn't know why he was holding back. Mia, however, didn't wait for Bryan's response. She grabbed her bag and left, leaving Bryan stunned and confused.
