Ponhpaiboon's techniques

“You must be wondering why I have such a bullet fast reflex,” said Ponhpaiboon. “Umm… I don’t think my jabs are bullet fast for you to need bullet fast reflex to dodge them,” answered Kalil. “But you get the gist,” said Ponhpaiboon. “I guess so,” answered Kalil. “Well, the truth is I don’t have bullet fast response. It’s not possible for a human much less an old man,” replied Ponhpaiboon. “Umm… That’s what I was telling you,” answered Kalil. “The secret to my reflex is my wisdom,” said Ponhpaiboon, “I have fought so many fights I have a good idea of when an opponent will throw which punch. So I can react before they even throw. I am always a step ahead of my opponents.” “Umm… I think you can use the word experience instead of wisdom,” said Kalil. Ponhpaiboon didn’t respond to that and took back his stance which told Kalil that the fight will be continued. Immediately Ponhpaiboon threw a teep. But unlike all the other teep till now, this one landed and threw Kalil a few steps back without needing a setup. This one was too fast. Kalil recovered his stance. He dashed towards Ponhpaiboon with a swaying head movement. But Ponhpaiboon’s jab landed one after the other on his temple. “Dammit, why can’t I dodge any?” thought Kalil. Ponhpaiboon then landed a fast light roundhouse on his body. It didn’t damage Kalil as normal roundhouse kicks would. But it had psychological damage as it showed him that he can’t dodge the old man’s attack. Two jabs landed on the temple and the chin and then a fast right hook grazed through the chin before Kalil could notice. He fell down on his butt. “You must be wondering why I have such light speed agility,” said Ponhpaiboon. “Umm… I don’t think you would need light speed agility to hurt me,” answered Kalil. “But you get the gist,” replied Ponhpaiboon. “I guess so,” answered Kalil. “Well, truth is I don’t have light speed agility. It’s not possible for a human much less an old man,” replied Ponhpaiboon. “Umm… That’s what I was telling you,” answered Kalil. “The secret to my agility is my hypnotic techniques,” said Ponhpaiboon, “I have established an expectation of my speed in your head which is lower than my real speed. So, when I use my real speed, you think I am much faster than I was before as you are responding in the speed you were used to during the beginning of the battle” “Umm… I think you can use the term psychological tricks instead of hypnotic techniques,” said Kalil. Just like the last time, Ponhpaiboon didn’t respond to that and took back his stance which told Kalil that the fight will be continued. Kalil held a tight guard to protect his head. But Ponhpaiboon threw an uppercut on Kalil’s body. Kalil’s knee began to buckle. Ponhpaibonn then threw a cross on Kalil’s guard. Even after landing on the guard, Kalil’s balance was shifted backward because of it. Kalil had to take two stumbling back steps to get his balance back. The old man then was about to throw a roundhouse kick. Kalil blocked it. But the impact was enough to throw him down on the ground once again. He somehow managed to stand up. But Ponhpaiboon threw a left hook. Kalil raised his shoulder to block it. But even after the attack landed on the shoulder, he could feel the pain of the area getting numb and could only feel grateful that it wasn’t the head. “You must be wondering why I have such rock-crushing power,” said Ponhpaiboon. “Umm… I don’t think you would need rock-crushing power to hurt me,” answered Kalil. “But you get the gist,” replied Ponhpaiboon. “I guess so,” answered Kalil. “Well, the truth is I don’t have rock-crushing power. It’s not possible for a human much less an old man,” replied Ponhpaiboon. “Umm… That’s what I was telling you,” answered Kalil. “The secret to my power is my energy controlling techniques,” said Ponhpaiboon, “I use my whole body to land the strikes I land instead of just the arms or the legs. When I punch, I use my whole body. While throwing the cross, I push through my legs, rotate my hips, tighten my lats and release it upon my shoulders to throw a powerful right. I rotate my whole body starting from legs to hips to shoulders to throw my hooks. I transform the energy of the whole body into the punch.” “Umm… I think you can use the term punch dynamics instead of energy controlling techniques,” said Kalil. Yet again, Ponhpaiboon didn’t respond to that and took back his stance which told Kalil that the fight will be continued. Kalil took a long guard Muay Thai stance. Ponhpaiboon threw a body jab. He hopped rhythmically. He then feinted a body jab to throw a jab to the head. It was half parried. The old man then threw a leg kick. It wasn’t necessarily hard. He started to throw one attack after another as he kept finding the perfect shot that would hit Kalil in that specific position. None of them landed clean. But at the end of all his combinations, Kalil was breathing way harder than he was. “You must be wondering why I have such infinite stamina,” said Ponhpaiboon. “Can we stop this sequence?” asked Kalil. “No,” answered Ponhpaiboon. “Umm… I don’t think you actually have infinite stamina,” answered Kalil. “But you get the gist,” replied Ponhpaiboon. “I guess so,” answered Kalil. “Well, truth is I don’t have infinite stamina. It’s not possible for a human much less an old man,” replied Ponhpaiboon. “Umm… That’s what I was telling you,” answered Kalil. “Well the secret to my stamina is my intelligent life-stealing technique,” said the old man, “We both are going to have to work throughout the session as the whole fight. Both attacking and defending take energy with defending taking more energy than attacking. But if I am the attacker, then I get to control my pace and my breath. But you as the defender will have to breathe in my schedule. So, you lose more energy.”
