Cassian's POV I sat in the VIP section, scanning the club with my fingers wrapped around a glass of neat whiskey when I spotted the lady from earlier. My eyes followed her to the bar as she placed her order with a smile on her face. For someone who had argued with me a few hours ago, she looked surprisingly carefree. She took her drink and turned around on the bar stool. The moment her eyes met mine, she glared at me. The corner of my lips twitched into the faintest smirk. So, she remembered me too. She shot me another attitude filled look before turning to face her friend, who seemed busy flirting with the bartender. "Boss." My attention shift to my second-in-command and I gave him a brief nod before downing the remaining whiskey in my glass. "The meeting will start in ten minutes," Marcus said. I stood up and made my way to my office. Once inside, I shrugged off my jacket and undid the first few buttons of my shirt. The noise from the club faded the moment the door shut behind me, leaving only silence. I sat down and pulled up the CCTV feed on my computer. My fierce lady was no longer on the bar stool. A slight frown settled on my face as I zoomed in on each camera feed until I finally found her dancing with her friend on the dance floor. "Gotcha." The frown disappeared almost instantly and I watched her for few minutes before the sound of someone clearing their throat came through my laptop and I pulled it closer. "We're all here, Boss," one of my men said. I leaned back in my chair with an unreadable expression and rest my right hand beneath my chin. "I heard you lost my cargo last week, Noir," I said with a calm voice. "Yes, Boss, but it wasn't deliberate. The operation was supposed to be secret. I don't know how they found out," he replied. "You know the problem isn't the loss," I said. My gaze remained fixed on the screen, but my tone turned colder. "It seems one of you has been feeding someone else our information." The group call fell silent and my eyes drifted back to the CCTV feed, where Diavola mia was now dancing with a man. The man's body edged closer to hers but she stepped back slightly and continued dancing. Good. I could hear voices coming from my laptop, but my attention stayed on the monitor. I wanted to see what the fool would do next and he moved closer to her again with his hand on her ass this time. My jaw tightened and i curled my finger into a fist,Nobody touches what's mine and she's mine. She pulled away and slapped him across the face and that was the invitation I needed. I turned back to my laptop. "I'm not interested in anything you have to say right now," I said coldly. "Find the mole among you by the end of the week... or I'll be paying each of you a personal visit." "Yes, sir," they answered in unison. "Meeting dismissed." I shut the laptop without another word, already reaching for my jacket. I stood up and slipped my jacket back on, my steps quick and purposeful as I made my way to the dance floor. When I got there, she had the man's hair tightly fisted in her hand while my bouncers struggled to free his hair from her grip. A faint smile tugged at the corner of my lips. She had spirit. I walked over without a word and swept her off her feet. "Let me down and let me deal with this asshole!" she snapped, struggling against my hold. "Shh, Diavola mia," I murmured calmly as I carried her toward my office. Her face was flushed a deep shade of pink, and her movements were becoming clumsy. She had definitely drink more than she could handle. "Where's your friend?" I asked. "She left... with her guy," she replied. The question seemed to reset her brain and her eyes widened slightly as she struggled harder in my arms. "Put me the f**k down! Where are you taking me?" she demanded, her voice rising. I pushed open the door to my office and gently placed her in my chair and switched on the main light She watched me cautiously until recognition flashed across her face. "Uhm... thank you, but I need to be on my way home now," she said as she hurried to her feet. The moment she stood, she winced and staggered backward in pain. I instinctively reached out, but she managed to steady herself before I could. "Just sit down. I'm going to get you some water and painkillers." "You don't have to. Like I said, I need to get going." "I don't bite," I said, slipping both hands into my pockets.you can relax for a little while, and I'll call you a cab." She gave me a suspicious look. "Those that bite don't write it on their faces.I think i just need to rest my head for five minutes. You don't need to bring me anything. I'll be out of here in the next five."She said as she curled up in my chair, hugging herself. For someone who had been ready to fight moments ago, she suddenly look fragile. "It doesn't seem so," I murmured under my breath. I watched her for few quiet minutes before taking off my jacket and draping it carefully over her. I found myself studying her face longer than I should have,She looks peaceful without the attitude and sharp tongue. A knock sounded at my door and my brows knitted together,This better be important. I opened the door to find one of my bouncers holding what looked like a woman's handbag. "Sorry to disturb you, sir. This belongs to the lady you carried earlier." I stretched out my hand, and he placed the bag into my palm. "And the guy?" I asked. "He's still on the dance floor," he replied. "Take him to the showroom and tie him to the cross stand. I'll meet you there shortly." "Yes, sir." I shut the door behind him and I looked through her bag until I found her ID card. Royal, her name suit her.I picked up my phone and saved her number and also took a picture of her ID. I slipped the card back into her bag and placed it on my desk,Opening my drawer, I retrieved my gun and screwed the silencer onto the barrel before tucking it into my waistband. I glanced back at her and She was fast asleep.I leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss against her forehead. "I'll be back, Diavola mia," I whispered before leaving the office. "I didn't do anything! Please... let me go!" the man cried, tears streaming down his face. "You touched what's mine," I said as I walked toward him. "I'm here to teach you a lesson." "Please! I'm sorry! I didn't know. Even if I did, I swear it won't happen again!" "You touched my lady and I'm sure it won't happen again. I raised my gun and fired into both of his hands, his scream echoed through the showroom,Without another glance I tucked my gun back into my waistband. "Drop him on the street," I ordered one of my men. "And tell David to get the car ready." "Yes, sir." I turned and head back to my office as though nothing had happened. I picked up her handbag before carefully lifting her from the chair so i won't disturb her sleep. She shifted slightly in my arms and I paused until she rest her head against my chest. By the time I reached the parking lot, David already had the car door open and I gently laid her across the back seat before walking around and getting in from the opposite side.I moved closer and rested her head against my shoulder and she sighed softly in her sleep. I closed my eyes and released a breath I didn't realized I'd been holding, lowering my head,I buried my nose in her hair and the faint scent of vanilla surrounded me. I realized I hadn't stopped thinking about her since she crashed into me in the afternoon.
