Brandy’s POV
I’m still staring at the note in my hand in confusion, because, who are they from? Why did they send them to me? Words that have been rattling around my head for the last half an hour with no further steps toward an explanation.
A tap on my door startles me out of my thoughts, my head jerking upward as I squeak out ‘come in!’ to whoever is on the other side.
The door swings open, the light from the main office sihouetting the huge frame that fills my doorway before the visitor steps inside and I can see who it is. My breathing hitches when Kane steps inside, his gaze finding me immediately as he turns around and closes the door behind him. I scour his face as he strides toward me, looking for any sign that he’s disgusted with me, angry . . . coming to end our agreement . .
