"help me! Stop hurting me. Please let me go—"
I woke up from a bad dream and immediately sat up in bed, rushing to the darkest corner of my closet.
I sat down, covering my mouth in fear that the bad people might take me again, that they might hurt me again. I don't want that!
I cried and cried, praying they wouldn’t take me because I didn’t want to be hurt anymore—I was exhausted from all the pain. Suddenly, I heard a knock on my bedroom door, and I got scared. It might be the bad people. Maybe it's my aunt! Maybe she's going to sell me again.
“Amanda, my child… mommy’s coming in. Are you awake?” my mother gently called out.
But I was still too afraid to come out. What if it's her pretending to be my mom, Felise? I won’t come out!
"Child, mommy’s coming in." I felt that my aunt was about to enter the room, so I screamed.
“Auntie, please!! I beg you, leave my room! Mommy, help me!! Please stop this, don’t come near me!” I screamed, crying in fear. The closet door suddenly opened, and I saw my dad and mom, looking scared and worried.
“Amanda, my child, it’s me, mommy Felise. Are you okay, baby? Oh, dear Lord,” my mother exclaimed, hugging me tightly, and that’s when I finally broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.
At least, someone heard me.
“Mommy, I’m scared. What if Auntie is here? What if she hurts me again? What if they use me ag—” I couldn’t finish my sentence when I heard something shatter.
I pulled away from my mom’s hug and looked towards where my dad was. I saw him punch the window near my study table.
"Hon!" my mom shouted, immediately rushing to him. I could only cry out of fear.
“Damn it, Felise, that’s my daughter! I cared for her. I loved her so much, but why did that monster of a person do this to her!” Dad fell to his knees, covering his face. I knew he was crying.
Mom cried along with him. The three of us were now crying. I was hurting from what was happening, but I knew my parents were hurting even more.
“Daddy… I’m sorry if I’ve become a burden to you both. I-I didn’t want this,” I stammered through sobs.
“You did nothing wrong, baby. I know you didn’t want this. You’re not a burden to us. You’re our daughter, and we love you so much. I’ll do everything I can to get you the justice you deserve. I love you, Amanda,” my dad cried as he spoke.
He stood up and walked toward me. I looked at him carefully, memorizing his face. I saw my mom watching us, her eyes tired and tear-streaked.
“Amanda, I’m so sorry, my child! I wasn’t able to save you from that wicked woman. I left you there because I thought your life w ould be better, but I was wrong.
I’m sorry, my princess, they hurt my one and only Amanda—my life,” my dad said as he hugged me, sobbing into my shoulder. I returned his embrace tightly.
I really thought my aunt was kind because she took me in and cared for me when my parents left me with her. I thought I would be okay because they left me with her. But that wasn’t where my fears began—it turns out. I thought this only happened in books.
At first, I thought she was just in a bad mood, which is why I let it go after she slapped me the first time. But it got worse when she accused me of stealing her jewelry. She slapped me again and almost strangled me to death. I couldn’t fight back because she and her husband ganged up on me.
She got addicted to drugs and threatened to kill me if I told anyone. She said she would also kill my best friend. She fell into debt, and we lost contact with my parents because my aunt took me to Manila, where all the trauma I will never forget began.
'Take off your clothes,' she screamed at me.
We were in a club with her friend. She said she would sell me so that we would have money for my schooling and food. I didn’t want to, but she said if I didn’t, she would kill me. I didn’t want to, but I couldn’t refuse, so I did what she wanted. She promised she would let me go if I did it.
'Tita...' was the last word I could say until the men in front of me took away the most precious thing I had.
I was r***d, No one saved me.
