The Last Stranger (On hiatus/Rewriting)

A Fresh Start

Valarie POV

Today’s the day I can restart my life. A new beginning for me. A fresh start. I made sure to set my alarm at 5 hense why I’m awake now. I looked around the room.

“Where is my unif-“ I stopped when I found my it on the table next to my bed. Felix must’ve placed it there when I was in a coma. I grabbed my towel and took a shower. When I finished I put my clothes on and looked at myself in the human sized mirror.

“Looking good” The uniform was fitted so there was no restriction. I wore a skirt that reached my knees with safety shorts underneath. I had a choice between a Silver blazer or my house jumper which was red. I chose the blazer because I didn’t want people thinking I’m a show off. Along with the blazer I had to wear a silver tie. I loved it all together. I looked closer and noticed red and white streaks in my hair then I remembered skeletor had told me my dad had red hair and my mom had white.

“It’s an honour to represent my parents” I said to myself proud of my heritage even if I didn’t know them personally. A knock interrupted the moment I was having with myself.

“Val?” My whole face lit up more than it already was. I opened the door.

“How do I look Felix?” He smiled before replying.

“Perfect. Ready?”

“Ready” I took his hand and followed him. It took us a minute or two to reach the big hall. Once we arrived all eyes were on us. I don’t mind attention but this was way too much. When we walked over to the Phoenix house line gossip started and everyone was talking until a loud voice spoke.

“SILENCE ALL” I looked at Felix with a confused face. He sign languaged ‘that’s the head master’ and I mouthed ‘oh’. We turned back to the front.

“Millie” a girl raised her hand.

“Alexa” another girl put her hand up and this continued for all the other students.

“Felix” I watched him raise his arm.

“Valarie” I immediately raised my hand afraid of what would happen if I didn’t. I saw Felix snigger so I elbowed him.

“Tyson” I whipped my head at the mention of the name and Felix whistled. I just ignored him. Are you even allowed to do that? My eyes skimmed the sea of people but I couldn’t find him anywhere.

“I will only repeat myself once. Tyson” I was getting scared for the guy now. He could be in a lot of trouble from what I’ve read. My eyes perked up at the sound of giggling. When I traced the sound with my eyes I saw Tyson sucking a girls face by the entrance. I won’t lie it did hurt me a bit but he doesn’t even know me so I don’t really care. I felt my hand being grabbed and when I turned around Felix gave me a sad smile and whispered

“Trust me Val he’s a jerk anyway, he’s going to be kissing someone else in a couple hours. Complete player” I returned the smile. I didn’t know Tyson was like that, it put me off a lot.

“TYSON” I flinched at the headmaster’s sudden shouting. By now everyone had seen him and the other girl. “What did I say about missing roe call? I said NOT TO DO IT AGAIN” Tyson’s facial expression just wasn’t it. He looked like he didn’t even want to be here and that he didn’t care.

“Sorry dad it won’t happen again” he said with an uninterested face. Dad? They’re father and son? You got to be kidding me.

“Thats what you said the last 57 times” 57 TIMES? “I’m not having your behaviour this year so you’re going to be placed in with the Phoenix and work hard like everyone else” What does he mean by everyone else? So he doesn’t even attend classes?

“What? I’m not going to work with a bunch of weak pathetic losers” He basically called my brother weak and no one does that other than me. I was about to step forward and give him a piece of my mind until Felix grabbed my rist and said rather loudly

“Don’t” Great now everyone is looking at us. 

“Girl with the red and white steaks you can’t dye your hair” The headmaster said. I turned to give him my full attention.

“Sorry sir I’m new here and it isn’t dyed”

I said with as much respect as I could show. Everyone started talking and saying things like ‘she’s very weak then because imagine only getting your powers now’ and ‘how is she even in the Phoenix’ I just mentally laughed because these people won’t be saying all this later.

“Alright just make sure you don’t step out of line again. Is that understood?”

“Yes headmaster” I said before bowing and getting back in line 

“Tyson go fall in line”

“But” Tyson was cut off before he could object 

“NOW” In defeat he walked over to our line and stood behind me. I felt a bit uncomfortable for some reason and I tapped Felix on the back. He slightly turned around and understood so quickly stood in-between me and Tyson. Mental note to thank him later.

“Listen up everyone. Today we will do some fights with your beasts. Yes you can use your powers and I’m sure you all know the rules by now so go ahead and make your way to the arena” I looked at Felix and we both smiled.

“Let’s go” I had memorised the map of this building last night so knew where everything was. I didn’t bother looking at Tyson as I walked passed him. When everyone was at the arena we got changed into our fighting outfits. Of course there was changing rooms for the boys and then the girls. We were asked to pick our opponents out of hat. I took mine and read the name out loud.

“Jamari” Everyone started laughing and I had no clue why. A man who’s around 6’2 walked up to me and chuckled.

“You’re my opponent? What a joke” joke? I got up close to him, stood on my toes and said into his ears

“I’m gonna make you eat those words” I smirked when I saw a hint of fear in his eyes but he played it off by laughing.

“Whatever makes you sleep at night kid” He went to pat my head so I grabbed his arm and twisted it.

“I won’t hesitate to break your arm” Felix came over.

“Val save it for the match” I let go of the guys arm and everyone watched me as we walked away from him. I apologised to Felix.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to make you look bad” 

“It’s okay just make sure to win”

“Felix it’s me. Of course I will” we both laughed before the headmaster started to speak.

“Everyone summon your beast” I watched everyone one by one do just as he said. When Felix’s beast came out I greeted her. 

“Hahahahah look guys she doesn’t even have a beast” I heard someone say and everyone else started laughing.

“Valarie do you not have a beats?” The headmaster said

“I do but I’m not sure if this place can hold him may I go into the arena?” The headmaster nodded his head. As I walked into the arena I heard the same girl from before say:

“Oh look now she’s making excuses now” So I turned around and looked at her then at the headmaster.

“Sir she said she would love to meet him is that okay?”

“Yes go ahead” I smirked and dragged her with me.

“By the power of I Valarie born to December 31st” when I said that everyone gasped including the headmaster “I summon you Skeletor the untameable” The girl who was with me looked very scared and started shaking. The whole area glowed and there he was. He roared and we both finished my sentence

“FEAR ME” Everyone was speechless. I said to the girl who was now on the floor:

“It’s okay he doesn’t bite” I spoke in an soothing way to relax her “I mean unless you provoke him of course” I finished making her run out of the arena.

“It’s been a long time Valarie” yes I know I finally earned my name. It was nowhere near easy tho.

“Like wise. Do you mind helping me out in a battle? Everyone here is doubting us” he grinned.

“Who’s our opponent?” I looked for the guy and saw his beast.

“Mela. Headmaster could I fight now?” I asked. 

“If you can find a partner. Your previous one forfeited” I laughed when I heard this.

“You heard that skeletor. What a child” I looked at all the students. When my eyes locked with Felix we smiled and he walked towards me.

“Looks like todays my lucky day Val. I get to fight you with the bringer and taker of life”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way” We connected our foreheads for a couple seconds and jumped onto our beasts.

“Ready skeletor?”

“Always”

“Ready Asgard?”

“Let’s do it”

“3” The headmaster started.

“2” I smiled at Skeletor

“1” Me and Felix looked at each other

“GO” We both took of to the sky. Skeletor and Asgard both spat fire meanwhile I sent Felix laser from my eyes which he dodged and threw about 23 energy balls at me. Not one injured me. We both jumped off our beats and went to fight on the ground. He lifted parts of the group with his telekinesis so I made fire balls, cancelling each other out. I tried to create a circle but my arm wouldn’t move. Next thing I know I was lifted into the air and dropped on the group. This hurt but not a lot as I have immediate healing. I casted a spell inside my bossy to stop whatever controlling Felix was doing. I felt it wear off so I ran at the speed of light and grabbed him by the neck slamming him on the floor. He grabbed my arm, twisted it and put it on my back. If I moved even an inch snap goes my shoulder. I have to to think. Think outside the box. Got it. I whistled and Skeletor sent one of his fire roars our way. Felix moves out the way and I just stood there to enchant a spell. I assume everyone thought I was badly injured so when I walked out of the flames I saw a little relief in Felix’s eyes. I drew a circle with both my arms and a sphere appeared around me.

“By the bond of brother and sister. The bond of power and love may the god of lightning give me power” I felt electricity run threw my body as rain poured down. I created a lightning bolt in my hands and was about to throw it at Felix until the headmaster shouted:

“STOP” I shook my hand and the bolt disappeared. I whistled once again and Skeletor came back. “By default of time this match is a draw” I looked at Felix who was already looking at me.

“It really is my lucky day” I smiled a bit.

“We both know that wouldn’t have done anything to you” I said walking up to him.

“Could you like stop the rain it’s really cold” I snapped my fingers and poof, it was now sunny.

“Much better. Asgard you may go now” I turned to Skeletor

“You too you big fluff” I said rubbing his nose which he loves. The two creatures vanished

“Val you’ve really grown and to think you learnt all this in only 2 months” he held his hand up for our hand shake and I took it.

“Boom, bam, shake, clap, whistle, turn hug” We put our arms around each other’s shoulders and walked out of the arena. When I saw the guy who forfeited I patted him on the head and mimicked his voice.

“Whatever makes you sleep at night kid” He didn’t even have the balls to look at me so we just walked away and took a seat.

“Next up Tyson and Mike” the headmaster said. After I placed down my drink I looked up and all the beasts were in front of me. Their owners eyeing me with dirty looks. I stood up and they all bowed.

“What have I told you guys about the bowing? No need to do it every time” Thalia steppes forward

“It’s only right” I sighed. They’re just going to keep doing it anyway.

“What am I going to do with you all. Bring it in” One by one they licked my face making me giggle. I was surprised no one came to collect or check-up on them. They have the responsibility to know their beasts are okay at all times.

“Looks like you’re quite famous around here” Felix said tapping my shoulder.

“Oh be quite the whole school knows you” We both laughed. Uninterested with the battle that was being held, I continued to talk with the other creatures. The match ended fairly quickly as the next two were called.

“Winner Tyson may the next two, Maddison and Clay, come up” 

“That’s you Thalia and Avery” I said and walked them to their owners.

“You have lovely beasts here” I said pointing to them “They’re a pleasure to-“ Thy  took the beasts and just walked away from me. Whats their problem. Felix joined me.

“How was Tyson’s match I didn’t really watch”

“He’s the headmaster’s son for a reason. And his opponent? Poor guy had no chance” I watched as Tyson grabbed another random girl and started kissing her. I gagged earning a chuckle from Felix.

“Told you so”

“That you did”

Many more fights went on until everyone had fought. The headmaster was now about to speak.

“You know the drill, anyone in Phoenix who lost to a lower level is now demoted to a dragon. May those who this applies to trade in their badge for a new one” I looked at Felix in shock and spoke.

“That’s a bit harsh” He shrugged his shoulders.

“That’s just how things work around here”

“And I take it you’ve never been demoted? Actually don’t. I already know” he smirked. “Yeah yeah just wait till I beat you. Undefeated no more”

“In your dreams Val. I noticed your eyes are back to normal”

“Yeah it’s an emotional thing” I replied.

“Emotional?”

“Yeah so if you see me getting angry stop me” I tried to laugh it off but we both knew how bad this could be.

“Just don’t do anything stupid when I’m not with you” 

“Yeah okay Dad”

“I’m serious Val” He really was. 

“Yeah I know. I’ll try” I said this not knowing I’d actually have to the same day.
