The Last Stranger (On hiatus/Rewriting)

Power within

Babie cries went in vein as the devastating future that awaited them could not be changed.

“Kill them. Kill them all” the hoodied man demanded his underlings.

A small but sharp knife was held up to the necks of hundreds of babies.

“NO DON’T DO IT” My words went unnoticed, my voice unheard just like the now lifeless infants. Just as I was about to scream it went pitch black.

My body jerked up as my chest heaved uncontrollably. The burining sensation in my eyes held them shut. My hand glided across the nearest surface to find my hand mirror.

“Where the hell is it” Feeling frustrates I slammed my hand on the table and felt a sharp pain.

“f**k it” I jumped off my bed and ran to the bathroom. Good thing I have a photographic memory. Upon arrival my motion sensed lights turned on and I slowly opened my eyes before a blinding light forced me to close them immediately.

“What the hell. I don’t remember the lights being that bright” At this point it was like the sun had been implanted into my eyes. Unable to bear the pain anymore I pried them open with my hand that was dripping blood.

“Did I sleep with my contacts on?” I spoke to myself confused.  “What am I saying I don’t even have contacts in this colour” White consumed both my iris’ leaving room for the pupil.  “No way” In denial I repetitively rubbed my eyes.

“But how? I go to a normal school and I’m not in even born in 2010” I sat on the cold tiles, after I cleaned my arm and wrapped it, waiting for my eyes to go back to normal. It’s been almost an hour now and the burning had stopped but they refused to turn back to blue.

“I need answers” I stormed my way to aunties room and slammed the door open alarming her.

“Valarie?” 

“Yes it’s me”

“Sweetie you scared me” She placed a hand on her heart “What’s the problem?”

“Can you not see? Oh wait” I turned the lights on

“You bought white contacts? They look nice” She said with a confused look.

“They aren’t contacts” When I said that her eyes doubled in size before returning back to its original state. She sighed

“I hoped this would’ve happened much later but that won’t be the case now” I had no idea what she was on about 

“What do you mean? You know something about it?”

“Take a seat” She said sitting up and gesturing me to come lay next to her.

“Well as you already know your adopted and I’ve always told you you were born on January the 1st”

“Were? I still am” I let out a nervous chuckle “right?” She shook her head

“I’m sorry but no. Your parents actually gave birth to you on the 31st of December” I stopped moving and my mind went blank because I knew damn well what this meant.

“But how? When? I’ve always been normal. I haven’t even experienced anything out of the ordinary until now”

I had so many questions

“Sweetie you aren’t angry I lied to you?”

I turned my head to look at her

“Of course  not. You were only doing what you thought was right. But why did you hide it? It’s not like I’m going to get killied or anything” I laughed but stopped when I saw how serious auntie’s face was.

“What’s the matter?”

“Oh it’s nothing. Valarie?”

“Yeah?”

“Now that you know, you’re going to have to go to ‘that’ school”

“Over my dead body”

“It will be if you don’t go”

“But what about all my friends?” I actually never made friends because I didn’t like anyone at my school. They’re all bitches. But something inside me really didn’t want to go.

“Valarie we both know you don’t have any”

I threw a pillow at her face and we both giggled.

“Your right but I don’t even know how to use my powers. Heck I don’t even know what they are”

“How about you get some sleep and we’ll figure things out tomorrow” I nodded and stood up to leave. After I left I was contemplating weather to go back in and ask one more question.

“Felix already knows” A voice said from the other side of the door. I smiled and went back to my room. Auntie didn’t ask any questions about my injury because my jumper hid it very well. 

When I got into my bed eveytime I closed my eyes all I could see were the faces of those babies which didn’t allow me to sleep.

“I couldn’t save them. Not a single one. I couldn’t do anything” A single silent tear slid down my cheek. I didn’t even know what was going on or if it was even real yet here I am crying. 

After a while my mind finally let me sleep.

~~~Next Morning~~~

My body was shaken left to right repeatedly.

“Val. Val wake up”

When I refused to my sheets were removed along with all the heat it provided me. I groaned loudly and shouted.

“I’M GOING TO KILL YOU FELIX” When I opened my eyes to see him he jumped away from me.

“What? I’m only joking” He still looked afraid. I was honestly so confused until I remembered last night. They still haven’t gone back?

“You scared of my eyes? Don’t be they’re harmless” It took him a while to regain his composure before replying 

“I’m just a bit shocked”

“Why? I thought you knew about it?”

“Know about what?” He said

“Felix no need to lie auntie told me everything”

The room was quite for a couple seconds until I spoke.

“Well get out I need to brush my teeth” 

My hands moved to his back and pushed him out of the room then closed the door. You see although Felix was born in November we always referred to ourselves as twins. I knew this meant he wasn’t normal and had powers but I never looked at him differently. Felix being born in that month meant he’s quite powerful but he never bragged about it or anything. In fact he tells me he’s weak which I obviously don’t believe. I’ve actually never heard him talk about any of his school life. I mean I don’t ask him so that’s understandable. He had gotten his powers quite early as so auntie told me. 9 was the average age for a child to get their abilities but for him it was 5. I actually started to take Taekwondo ever since he enrolled in ‘that’ school. I wanted to be able to always have his back no matter what, but how could I do that if he was stronger than me. We do fight a lot but at the end of the day we would die for each other. 

~~~Time Skip of {30 minutes}~~

After I took a quick shower I put on some shorts plus a t-shirt and made my way down to the kitchen

“Took you long enough. We aren’t going to a fashion show”

“Keep talking like that Felix and I’ll shave your eyebrows”

“Oh yeah? I’ll tell auntie about you know who” he said with a raised eyebrow. I can’t believe the nerve of this guy.

“You wouldn’t dare”

“Really?” He took out his phone and rang someone “Auntie you know T-“ all of a sudden I felt a sharp burn in my eyes and when I looked at Felix there was a slight cut on his cheek.

“Did your eyes just shoot me?”

I was beyond confused 

“My eyes? How did you even get that cut?”

“Are you dumb? Your eyes just shot laser beams at me”

“No way? Laser beams?” Felix smiled 

“Val this is your power”

“YOU’RE LYING. NO DAMN WAY. THATS SO COOL” I was in my own little happy world till I realised something. “But I don’t know how I did that”

“How about I help you out?”

“Isn’t today your day off? You would really waste it on me?”

I feel kinda bad now. Felix was about to speak when the room started shaking. Objects levitated and threw themselves across the room. I tried to move my body but it was stuck

“Val are you okay? We need to get out of here before this whole room collapses”

“Felix I can’t move” He looked at me with worry in his eyes.

“I think you’re doing all this”

“Me? I’m not doing anything I can’t even move an inch”

“Yes you can’t move because you’re controlling this” he looked as if he was thinking of a solution.

“Val you’re way too tense right now so try and relax all your muscles”

“I don’t know how to do that but I’ll try” I closed my eyes to think of all the funny and happy moments I’ve spent with Felix. This made me laugh a little. 

Felix POV

I saw Val laugh which was weird then she started glowing. It would be enough to blind a normal person. I was getting concerned now so I walked up to her. A transparent sphere formed around her. I touched it and was knocked meters back into a wall. The room could cave in on us any moment now. I got up and was going to try again but she glowed brighter and brighter until it looked like she was about to explode. I quickly teleported myself into the sphere grabbed her and teleported outside. I looked back at the house with Val in my arms and the whole thing was nothing more than rubble now.

“That was close” I said to myself before being interrupted by a loud groan. I immediately thought of Val.  When I turned my head to look at her she was shaking uncontrollably. I put her down on the grass and placed my hand on her forehead. I recited a high power internal spiritual spell but nothing worked because whatever was inside her fought back.

“Think Felix think” There’s only one way to stop this. It’s risky but it must be done. “Forgive me Val” Both my hands were now on her forehead. “By the power of I, Felix the Mishiranu hito born to November, may all spiritual bonds break and be reborn” I could hear Val scream which hurt my heart but I’m doing this to save her.
