The loss of a great Warrior

Felix POV

I’m currently just behind the doors of the waiting area in the arena with Val. I’m actually so nervous for her. I took her hands in mine.

“Don’t get hurt okay?” I know it’s a dumb thing to say considering she’s fighting but i said it anyway.

“Felix whats a fight without getting hurt? Don’t worry I’ll be fine” She reassured me.

“Alright just do your best” I put my forehead on hers. We always do this if you haven’t already noticed. It’s like our thing. Without anymore words she smiled and walked to words the door. Just as her hand was on the door nob I spoke.

“Give em hell for me” She turned around and mind linked me ‘You got it’ before opening and closing the door. She’s got this.

Valarie POV

I jumped up and down as I got a bit nervous. I’ll be honest I know this won’t be easy. 4 matches in 1 day? I got this. I was doing some last minute stretching until I heard the headmaster.

“Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome Valarie and Mike” I took a beep breath and let it out before walking out into the arena. The referee brought mine and mikes hands.

“I want a clean fight understand?” We both nodded and he let our hands go.

“On the whistle” We took our fight stances. As soon as he blew the whistle Mike threw a punch at me which I grabbed and twisted before dropping him on his back. I then punched him in the face and the ref put his hand up for me to stop.

“First point goes to Valarie” Mike got up and straightened himself. “Continue” This time I took the first move with a triple kick going higher each time till I reached his head. He went to grab my left leg and I let him. He smirked as if he had gotten me but when I smirked back he looked confused. I did a b-twist and kicked him with my right leg followed by a punch to his stomach making him fall. I saw him about to get up so I punched him again before saying.

“Stay down” The ref once again lifted his hand and gave me another point. When he blew the whistle, signalling us to resume, Felix mind linked me.

‘How’s it going?’ He took my attention away from Mike and next thing I know he punched in the face and stomach. I regained my balance and aimed for his shoulder.

‘Not the time Felix’ I said mentally as I grabbed Mike’s arm, placing it round my neck, and wrapped my leg round his. I transferred my strength into my foot and dropped him onto the floor holding him their for 10 seconds. The whistle was blown for the final time in this match as I knew I had won. This fight was first to 3 and I had reached 3. Cheers and boos filled the arena. I couldn’t care less if they liked or loved me, I won regardless. 

I didn’t bother waiting for the referee to announce the winner as I walked out and back to where Felix was. The smile on his face turned into a sour one when he saw my cut lip. He nervously chuckled as I glared at him.

“Sorry about that” His smile returned making me smile.

“Only 3 left” I said as I grabbed a towel  to wipe my face before I caught the water bottle Felix threw me.

“Yeah. Big guy’s up next” I looked at him.

“Who jack? He’s quite big isn’t he? I’ll just go ahead and ask for any advice right now before you mind link it to me in think he middle of the fight”He laughed before replying.

“Just use his size to your advantage. He’s big and strong but slow so that’s all useless if he can’t land a hit” I gave him a little punch on the shoulder.

“Look at you doing research for me” I said smiling. He opened his mouth to say something but the headmaster beat him to it.

“Next up, Valarie and Jack” I threw my towel at Felix before walking towards the door again.

“Wish me luck” I said with the door half way open. He shouted something making me chuckle.

“YOU DON’T NEED ANY” He has no shame does he. Once in the ring that was set up in the middle of the arena I couldn’t see Jack. His name was called several time until the headmaster said he had got some news and we were having a change of plans.

“Jack has forfeited making Valarie the winner” Gasps could be heard all over in the stands. “So we are going to proceed to our next fight. Jason you can go as head and step into the arena” I watched as a muscular man walked in and looked down on me. A different ref spoke up.

“I want a clean slate okay?”

“Okay” Me and Jason said in synch. I took a stance the was similar to Jason’s. When the refs hand went down, as he didn’t have a whistle, I punched Jason in the stomach but he was unfazed by it. He punched me in the stomach which hurt A LOT. What the hell are this man’s hands made of? He hit me three more times in the same area causing me to groan and fall over holding my stomach.

“1st point to Jason” The crowd went crazy. Everyone really hates me huh. I got up and shook the pain off. “Resume match” Jason got a bit too cocky as he aimed for the same spot thinking I would be vulnerable. I ducked very low, using my rebound as a fuel for my legs and landed an uppercut  immediately knocking him of his own two feet. I took a step back so he could get up.

“1 point to Valarie” I rolled my eyes when the crowd ‘miraculously’ lost their voice and were silent. Once Jason got up the referee nodded to say we could continue. I ran and slipped in between and under his legs to get behind him before harshly jelly legging him onto his knees. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kept them their until either he tapped out or the ref took me of him. To my surprise I felt him desperately tapping my arm. I let go and looked at the ref for approval. “Valarie now has 2 points s-“ he couldn’t finish his sentence because Jason interrupted him.

“I give up” His face was red. Probably from the neck hold. I turned around to walk off but the ref called me back.

“Valarie, actually we’re just going to go straight into the last match” No break? I just nodded and walked back to saw Tyson already standing there. “Clean fi-“ 

“Yeah I know the drill just hurry up” I wasn’t bothered to take a stance this time so I just stood their and waited for the okay. As soon as i heard the whistle I ran up to Tyson, jumped up to wrap my legs round his neck and flipped him over. 

“First point to Valarie” Well that was quick. The ref lifted his hand and round 2 began. I went to punch Tyson but he grabbed my hand and slammed me into the floor. Damn that was painful. I spat blood onto the floor. “Tyson ties with a point. Round 3 begin” I was still feeling the pain from the last attack when he punched me in the face leading up with a 360 kick that left me on the floor. Guess I’m not gonna get a break am I. “One more point for Tyson and he wins this” the crowd all of sudden regained their ability to speak as they chanted his name. “You may continue” Tyson was so fast I didn’t seem him flip me to the floor. I was going to get up till he pinned down both my hands. He got up close and whispered into my ear.

“You look sexy underneath me how bout you stay there” I flipped him over so now I was on top. I put my leg on his crotch area and slowly slid it down earning a quite moan from him. I whispered:

“I look sexy anywhere” before punching him in the face.

Felix POV

It’s 2:2 and this is the deciding round. When I saw Val taking my fighting stance for the last round I smiled. I’ve got nothing to worry about.

Valarie POV

After we started the last round Tyson somehow managed to get me into a lock. Had had both my hands behind and his knee drilled into my back. My whole body aches and just as I was about to give in Felix mind linked me.

‘I know you were not just thinking about giving up were you?’

‘I’m sorry Felix but I don’t think I can do it’

‘I don’t want to hear your nonsense. You can and you’re going to. Just remember I know you can’

‘I’ll see you back in our room’

I said before disconnecting the link and put a determined face on. Felix believes in me all I have to do is believe in myself. With all my strength I pulled my arms forward and hit Tyson with the back of my head causing him to release me. While he held onto his nose, I leg sweeped him and dished out the final blow by punching him in the nose. “Valarie has reached 3 points making her the winner” People either booed or kept quiet. I helped Tyson up.

“Is your nose okay?” I said feeling really bad because it was probably broken. It hit me that we still had our powers we just couldn’t use them. But now the match is over so it doesn’t matter. I removed his hand and healed his nose.

“There” My smile turned into a smirk. “You’re still all mine tomorrow” I said walking past him to head back to my room. I was met with a huge smile when I walked in.

“You did amazing Val” I walked up to him and held my fist up.

“Couldn’t have done it without your help Felix” His open hand formed a fist and bumped it with mine. 

“Nah that was all you” He smiled before frowning.

“What is it?”

“I have a meeting with the other Elite 6 so I can’t stay” I nodded understanding it was probably very important as his face was quite serious.

“That’s fine just be careful”

Felix POV

As I was about to leave I turned around to give her the last hug she’ll probably ever receive from me. She was shocked at first but then hugged me back. I kissed her head then left without further words. I feel so horrible for lying to Val but it’s for her own good. If she knew where I was going she’d either try to stop me, ask to come or follow me without my permission. She mustn’t know. I then arrived at the meeting room with the others.

“You’re all fully aware you may not make it out alive right?” I said as they all nodded “I’m not asking you to lay down your lives for me but for all your loved ones. If anyone wants to leave please do so now because there won’t be any going back once you get there” No one moved. We all knew what we got ourselves into when we joined. I stepped forward as I could see some shaky hands.

“Fear not my friends. It is our duty as the Elite 7 to risk our lives when needed and today is that day” Everyone was now on my page. “Brainy, B-Dash, Metallicana, Fire burner, God’s Eye and Thunder” I called their hero names “Let’s do this” 

Elite 7: “YEAH” We all shouted before getting serious and making our way out of school premises. One by one, we summoned our beasts and hoped on. While in the sky it was quiet. Until several minutes later someone spoke.

“Were here and there’s about 500,00 of them” I looked and even with my super vision saw nothing. He really does have God’s eye. He sees all.

“Brainy open the portal” He followed my command and I then saw the whole army. We rode into the portal and it closed as expected, leaving us with no way out. We settle down on the ground and it was silent. The clam before the storm. I looked at Fire burner who was already looking at me. I saw a tear leave her eye so I got of Asgard and wiped it with my hand. 

“Baby it’s okay” I said trying to comfort her. I cupped her cheeks and kissed her softly. It was our a goodbye to each other. As I felt more of her tears fall onto my face I pulled away and wiped them all. I smiled and kissed her one last time before going back to climb onto Asgard.

“NOBODY HOLD BACK. TILL DEATH DO US PART WE’LL FIGHT WITH EVERYTHING WE HAVE” I shouted and All the beats roared before taking off again into the sky. It was like everything was in slow motion but I was brought back to reality as Asgard breathed fire onto the army that stood before us.

~~~2 hours later~~~

I looked in-front of me and they were all dead. My friends, my girlfriend and their beasts. Only I and Asgard remained. I felt many tears gush down my face but I immediately wiped them because now was no time to cry. I used all my remaining strength to stand up.

“Asgard can you buy me some time?” She nodded and tried to hold off the remaining 10,000 creatures/soldiers. I took this time to mind link Val. I started crying again because she didn’t answer. I called one last time and to my relief I she answered.

‘UHHHH WHAT IS IT FELIX? I WAS SLEEPING’ Normally I would be a little pissed but I just smiled being able to hear her voice again.

‘Valarie listen carefully’ I said her full name for the first time in at-least 4 years. ‘Tell mom I love her and not to worry about me’

‘Why? You can tell her yourself right?’ When I didn’t answer she went quite ‘where are you?’ She questioned.

‘Valarie where I am I won’t be coming back to either of you so listen and listen well. You are Valarie X, daughter of King Maliry X but sister of I Felix Evergreen and don’t forget it. You’ve been the best sibling to me and even though we aren’t blood related your my sister. Don’t let anyone tell you other wise’ I know Val can put her feelings aside when it comes to situations like this and I was thankful because I really didn’t have the time to listen to her cry and tell me to come back.

‘I won’t. I love you Felix’ I laughed and could feel her sad smile

‘I love you too Val’ I kept the mind link open and saw Asgard struggling and knew she couldn’t hold on for much longer. She looked at me and spoke.

“It’s been an absolute honour and pleasure to have served you Sir Felix” 

“ASGARD NOOOOOO” I screamed as she was pierced with hundreds of spears. I was now so angry and could feel somehow Val had given me her power. She’s still helping me even till now. 

‘Val it’s time. Whatever you do make sure you remember the spell’

I flew to the sky and chanted my final spell.

“Where the sun sets East on the day of death, X finds it’s spot. What’s written on the walls X shall perform. When the nights experience  eternal darkness X shall give light. When the skies cries out X will be it’s shoulder and when the World needs it’s Saviour, X shall emerge. I Felix Evergreen call upon the power of the X-manti and sacrifice myself so these monsters before me be wiped out”

Valarie POV

I suppressed my emotions because all Felix needed right now was for me to listen. I felt my body and eyes burn so I decided to go the arena since everyone was sleeping. As soon as I got their I dropped on my knees because I felt as if my heart had been ripped out of my chest. It was the most painful thing physically and emotionally. 

“FELIX” I screamed out his name as I knew now he was gone. Feeling absolute rage throughout my body I slowly flew into the sky and stopped mid air. The burning only got hotter. It was like being burnt alive. I was about to explode until I felt someone back hug me. All my power drained from me. There’s now way I had enough strength to fly so whoever hugged me was also carrying me. Once we reached ground I remembered everything that happened and I began to cry. He’s gone. He’s really gone. I couldn’t feel his power or soul. I couldn’t feel anything.

“It’s okay I’m here for you” The voice sounded familiar so I turned around to see who it is.

“Tyson?” He wrapped his arms around me and brought me closer.

“Yeah?” I wiped my tears because I didn’t want him seeing me like this. “You can cry Valarie, it’s fine” And with those words I was once again crying. I cried until I couldn’t anymore and just felt empty. He lifted me from the ground to carried me through the halls and into my room. He then put me on my bed and tucked me in before saying “If you need anything I’m just opposite you” before leaving the room. I got up and slipped myself into my brothers bed. His sheets still smelled like him. I smiled as I remembered all the good and bad times we’ve had together. I lifted the sheets and there was a letter so I opened it up to read it.

‘Val if you’re reading this I’m probably no longer with you in your world. I’m writing this as I watch your fight with Tyson and don’t think I didn’t notice the exchange of words between the two of you’ I smiled as my cheeks hit a bit red from thinking about it. ‘I feel so proud whenever I watch you fight because it reminds me of myself. I wish I could tell you everything I want to say but the main reason I’m writing this is to warn you’ 

“Warn me of what?” ‘I know you just asked “warn me of what” hold your horses I’m about to tell you’ I laughed. How could he be so happy when he knew he was going to die? ‘I’m sure as you know your parents were leaders. Even as the great leaders they were they still had enmities. When they were pregnant with you they knew their enemies would try to kill you so they had no one to pass the crown to. Your dad was smart and gave out the incorrect day and month you were going to be born. The enemies rounded up all babies who were born to that month and killed them in cold blood’ I held my mouth in shock. So the scene I had witnessed in my dream was real? What kind of sick monsters do you have to be to kill babies? The very thought got me angry. I calmed down and continued to read. ‘Your mom gave you to my mother and had her put on your birth certificate: Valarie Evergreen born on January 1st in 2011. Now that everyone in this school knows your born in December I’m sure word got out. I have my suspicions on the headmaster’ I just though that can’t be right. The headmaster? ‘Yes the headmaster. He started acting strange since you summoned skeletor in the arena. He asked me if you were my biological sister and I said yes. So please whatever you do stay clear and aware of him. He’s not who he seems to be.’ I got a bit scared but was determined to finish the letter so I continued. ‘I don’t have enough time to finish so when you wake up in the morning go talk to the twins in Phoenix. In your draws is a letter for mom. I love you Val” I didn’t notice tears had started falling again. I noticed very small writing at the corner of the letter. It said: ‘Burn this after you’ve read it’. I hesitated at first but then grabbed a lighter from his draw and watched as the paper disintegrated into ashes. 

I still can’t accept the fact he’s gone. It all feels like one big nightmare. When I mind linked him I also had access to all the things he had seen in the past 3 hours. He was with Asgard and the other members of the Elite 7 in his last hours. He didn’t tell me he had a fricking girlfriend. I’m happy that he got to spend his time with her and the others. Watching Asgard die was awful. She was loyal till the end. Why did Tyson come to comfort me? Am I gaining feelings for him again? I pushed all my thoughts out as i fell asleep in my brothers bed. I felt someone connect their forehead with mine but when I opened my eyes no one was there. I smiled knowing it was Felix. He’s still with me I’ll be fine.
