After the beating that Em received from that prick who likes to pretend he's a king, Jaekob, she shut down. The shock of taking a life, even if it was well deserved, and the subsequent emotional and physical trauma the next day pushed her over the edge. Jaekob forced her to torture and kill the human girl, and when she refused, he alternated between whipping her, cutting her, and beating her with the night stick or his fists, until she conceded and did as she was told.
