CRUEL INTENSIONS

Chapter 2 The sound of a door being flung open was heard by both Alexa and Mirabel. While Mirabel tried to make herself look more aggrieved and miserable, Alexa turned and looked towards the direction where she heard the sound come from, despite knowing it would be no one else but her step-mom, Emily Anderson, coming for her. But she hoped deep within her that her step-mom would spare her. Emily Anderson rushed down the stairs with a tight frown on her face, yelling, "Alexa! What the hell did you do to my daughter?" Alexa, frightened, took a step back as she shivered. "Aunt Emily, I didn't do anything to Mirabel," Alexa voiced out with a shaky voice. Emily got to where her daughter, Mirabel, stood, pulled her into her arms, and gave her a comforting hug. "It's okay, baby, it's okay. Stop crying and tell me what that little wench did to you," she said to Mirabel. Still sobbing profusely, Mirabel responded, "Mom, isn't it high time we sent Alexa out of this house? She's hell-bent on frustrating my life. She hates me so much, Mom." She sobbed harder and looked way more agitated, getting her mother more upset with Alexa. "Mom, Mirabel continued, I mistakenly stepped on Alexa's shoes, but I apologized to her since it wasn't intentional. But she decided to get back at me by choosing to empty her cup of coffee on my dining chair. Mom, I'm so sad. I feel like one day I might piss her off, and she would choose to kill me just to get back at me." While saying all this, Mirabel forced out more drops of tears from her eyes. Emily, extremely upset, turned and looked at Alexa with so much hate and disgust as she lashed out at her. "You daughter of a dead b***h, isn't it enough that I allowed you to stay in this mansion despite knowing that you bring nothing but bad luck and shame to the Anderson family? Yet you choose to treat my daughter like this?" As Emily spoke, she made her way to where Alexa stood and gave her a loud, sound slap that made Alexa's ears ring. Alexa felt so much pain in her heart as her step-mom continued, "It's just a matter of time before I throw you out of this house, you daughter of a dead bitch." Alexa, getting upset at the constant insults being thrown at her late mom, mumbled shakily and in a disoriented manner, "My mother wasn't a b***h, my mother isn't a b***h. I didn't do anything wrong. My mom didn't do anything wrong. My mother isn't a bitch." Emily, hearing this, scoffed and said, "I don't care what you think. Now, go into the kitchen and make me a cup of coffee, you little wench." Alexa got a grip on herself, trying really hard to control the waves of emotion that spiraled inside of her. She made her way to the kitchen to make some coffee for Emily, her step-mom. Absentmindedly, Alexa used the remains of water previously heated by Mirabel to make the coffee, unknown to her that the water was no longer hot but warm. Alexa walked back to the dining area, where Mirabel stood with her mother, Emily, still pretending to be sad. Alexa handed the cup of coffee to Emily, who then called out to Mirabel, "Baby, here." Mirabel took the coffee, surprised but not pleased, not knowing what her mother was planning. She took the coffee close to her lips to take a sip when Emily said, "No, baby, that isn't for you to drink." Mirabel's eyes brightened. Emily continued, "Empty that cup of coffee on Alexa's head. It would serve as a lesson to her not to be nasty to you ever again." Mirabel, who became very excited, rushed over to Alexa and turned the cup containing the coffee over, spilling the content on Alexa's head. This pulled Alexa out of her absentmindedness. Shutting her eyes, Alexa felt the warm coffee flow from her head down to her waist, staining the floral knee-length dress she had on. With so much sadness in her heart, tears rolled down her eyes.
