Her elbows slammed against the counter as she hauled at the wire without success. “Stand still!” a voice commanded. The tension in her throat increased before air filled her lungs and she dipped forward, coughing. Ooze covered her fingers and she couldn’t speak the words gagging against the back of her tongue.
