Curly ConditionerKit arrived downstairs with her hair still damp. Raki smiled at her from behind a bowl of porridge. “Where are Jerry and Langdon?” she asked.
He shrugged. “Did you know oats are gluten free, but contain a substance called avenin which can activate gluten-reactive T cells?”
“No.” Kit looked around the room for evidence of their presence. She wrinkled her nose at the absence of Langdon’s jacket from the coat stand. “They already left?”
“Yep.” Raki lifted a blob of porridge on the end of a fork. Kit closed her eyes and chose not to ask for explanations. A dull pounding at the back of her skull made her promise to run while she still had a working brain cell.
