Chapter 5 Scene l A month after their honeymoon, Bryan and Mirabel returned to work. Bryan was a medical doctor, while Mirabel was a surgeon. They both worked at the same hospital and had been there for several years before getting married, making them well-known among their colleagues. One sunny afternoon, they were both off duty. Bryan had planned a special surprise for his wife. They were relaxing in their beautifully furnished sitting room. Mirabel rested her head on Bryan's lap while they chatted happily. Bryan: Babe. Mirabel: Yes, darling? Bryan: Mum will be coming next week. Mirabel: So soon? Bryan: Yes. Remember she called us last week. Mirabel: Oh! I can't wait to see her. Bryan: I hope she doesn't come with too many worries. Mirabel: (laughs) Why would you say that? I trust her. Bryan: If you say so. But I hope you'll be able to cope with having her around. Mirabel: Of course. She's my mother-in-law, and I'll do everything I can to make her comfortable. Bryan: That's my wife. Mirabel: So... what's the surprise you mentioned? (Bryan smiles without saying a word.) Mirabel: Babe, talk now! Bryan: Be patient. (He reaches into his pocket and brings out a car key.) Bryan: Surprise! (Mirabel takes the key from him.) Mirabel: Wait... is this really a car key? (She presses the unlock button, and a car horn sounds outside.) Mirabel: Babe! (She hugs him tightly.) Mirabel: You're full of surprises! Bryan: Come outside and see it. (They walk outside together. Mirabel stops in amazement as she sees a beautiful white Lamborghini parked in front of the house.) Mirabel: Baby! This is beautiful! (She hugs him again.) Mirabel: This calls for a celebration! Bryan: I agree. Mirabel: Can I invite Princess and Thompson? Bryan: As you wish, Your Majesty. (Mirabel kisses him happily, and they both return inside to prepare for the celebration.) Narrator: The light fades. --- Scene II Later that evening, Bryan and Mirabel hosted a small celebration at their apartment. Their only guests were Princess and Thompson, who arrived with their adorable twins. It had been a few years since everyone got married, and although life had become busier, their friendship remained as strong as ever. The four friends sat around the dining table, chatting and laughing. Princess: Mirabel, you've never changed. Mirabel: Really? Thompson: But what exactly are we celebrating today? Mirabel: Let me introduce the man responsible. (She points at Bryan with a smile.) Mirabel: My husband... my king... my crown... my sweetheart... my one and only... (Everyone laughs while Bryan blushes.) Mirabel: My darling husband just bought me a brand-new Lamborghini! Princess: Wow! Congratulations! Thompson: That's amazing. Congratulations to both of you. Mirabel: Thank God! (She looks at Bryan, who smiles shyly.) Bryan: You're making me blush. (Everyone bursts into laughter.) Mirabel: Alright... I have something to say. (She points at Princess and Thompson.) Princess: What is it? Mirabel: Let me finish before you interrupt. Princess: Yes, ma'am. Thompson: We're listening, ma'am. Mirabel: Both of you missed our wedding, and I'm still disappointed about it. Princess: Baby girl, I'm really sorry. It wasn't intentional. I explained everything to both of you, but I know I still owe you an apology. Thompson: And I'm sorry too. Bryan: We were truly disappointed. Mirabel: Very disappointed. Princess: Please forgive us. (Bryan looks at Mirabel.) Bryan: My queen... should we forgive them? Mirabel: Yes. Princess: Really? Mirabel: Not because of you two... but because of those beautiful twins. Thompson: (laughs) We'll take that. Bryan: Then, on behalf of my queen and myself... we forgive you both. Princess: Yay! This calls for another celebration! Mirabel: Wait here. (Bryan walks to the mini-bar and brings out three bottles of wine and four wine glasses.) The four friends raised their glasses and celebrated together. They shared stories, laughed until their cheeks hurt, and enjoyed the rest of the evening in peace and happiness. As the night grew late, Princess and Thompson gathered their twins and prepared to leave. Princess: Thank you for having us. Mirabel: You're always welcome. Thompson: We'll see you both soon. Bryan: Safe journey. (Princess and Thompson wave goodbye before driving home with their children.) Narrator: The laughter echoed through the house as friendship, forgiveness, and love filled the evening. Little did they know that another surprise was waiting for them in the days ahead... Narrator: The light fades.
