CHAPTER TWENTY 1 Peter crept his car up the long driveway as he approached the dark parking lot at Fort Armistead Park. The mist blowing in from the Patapsco River seemed to smother the feeble light provided by the few working lamps. As he did, Peter pivoted his head all around as if it were on ball bearings, watching for any sign of Garrou. He saw nothing as he inched the car into a parking space. He sat, quivering, and feeling like he might vomit. Peter closed his eyes and breathed in once, held it a moment, then let it out, still feeling his throat tightening in dread anxiety.
