Chapter 6

2648 Words

CHAPTER SIX 1 “Are you f*****g kidding me?” Garrou screamed angrily. “Seriously?! Are you f*****g kidding me, Mother?!” Garrou had been having several terrible days. It started with the debacle on Meet the Press, since which time the recording had been almost the sole focus on all the twenty-four-hour network news channels, the lead in the network evening news programs, and the subject of numerous newspaper editorials. Garrou’s campaign cleaved to the claim it was a forgery, but even with the assistance of Emma Oscuro and Jerry Black painting him as the victim, the tenor in the opinion pieces was often suspicious of that assertion. Many editorials described Garrou as elitist, arrogant, pompous, and – his personal favorite – “burdened with an overarching sense of smug self-superiority.”
