CHAPTER FORTY-NINE 1 Garrou limped away from the cabin in an agony like nothing he’d ever felt before. Every timid step he took sent explosions of pain tearing up his feet and legs which were barely able to support his weight, while his face felt like it was a raging fire. Each step was a new torture, another excruciating burst of searing anguish. He turned when he smelled Peter’s odor outside the cabin as he made a dash carrying something, the brilliant glow emanating from his body now gone. Rather than renew his attack, Garrou just slinked away further into the woods. He couldn’t tell how bad the damage was and feared what he would find once he transformed into his human shape.
