CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE It took Garrou mere seconds to cover the distance between his spot in the woods and the cabin, but just before he got ready to make the leaping jump into the door, something happened that made time slow down and take on a stretched out, elastic nature. As he took his last step before leaping, a bundle of something hanging from the front door exploded into a brilliant white light with strands of ethereal violet flames bursting out like raging snakes, flooding Garrou and the entire woods in the illumination.
