3. The English Class

Isabella “Because of you, now we are stuck together being partners.” I seethed at Alistair. “Says the girl, who couldn’t stop staring at my car and me.” I glared at him. Oh, how I would love to wipe that cocky grin off his face. “I. Was. Not. Staring.” I punctuated each word with clenched teeth for him to understand but of course the arrogant pig only pushed me further. “Yeah. You were practically drooling,” he chuckled. “I wasn’t drooling. I was just shocked and surprised. That’s all.” “Whatever, makes you happy, beautiful.” Before I could tell him off, Mr. Barnes started calling out the roll call. After the roll call, he gave Alistair a pointed look. “Alistair Black, welcome back to this town and high-school. I hope you aren’t missing military school badly because one mistake from you and you would be sent back to it.” Professor sternly said to which everyone was laughing including me. Alistair himself was laughing and then with a wink to the professor he spoke, “Aye, aye, professor.” Professor shook his head but he also had a smile on his face. Well, Alistair definitely knew how to charm people, including professors. Mr. Barnes then told us that today’s English class topic was Shakespeare’s famous play, ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ I winced, realizing the predicament I’m in. Me and Alistair, working together on the project named ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ It definitely was a recipe for disaster. Mr. Barnes then looked at everyone before he told the class, “Today, I want you all to write an essay. Obviously, with your partner. Do you guys think Romeo did right by taking his own life thinking his Juliet was dead? I want your view points on it.” I frowned when I heard the question. It was a simple question yet one with conflicting answers. If you saw from the true love point of view then of course, Romeo did right by taking his life. Because it proved how much he loved her. Much more than his own life. But if you saw from the modern world point of view, then definitely he didn’t do right. Taking one’s own life even if the reason was one’s dead true love then also it wasn’t something right. Compared to the old times, nowadays, people believed more in self-love. They were facing far much worse problems in their day-to-day life but were determined not to give-up. And every day, somebody lost someone. Either by break-up, by death or by choice. But the bottom line was everyone lost someone in their lives. Still, there were many people out there who were living their lives with that sorrow deep in their hearts. I was still lost in my thoughts when I felt Alistair’s gaze burning the side of my head. I looked up at him only to find him looking at me with softest expression on his face. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” He shook his head and chuckled. “Nothing. So what is your opinion on this?” I exhale before telling him my conflicting view point on it. “Beauty with brains, huh. I’m quite impressed.” “Do you have a death wish? Or want me to castrate you?” “Is this your sick way of wanting to me n***d?” he cockily asked and I rolled my eyes at him. “Please. I would claw my eyes out before watching your ugly ass.” “Kinky, I like it,” he winked. Ugh. This pompous dickhead pushed all my buttons, taking me to the edge where million ways were popping in my head of murdering him. ********** After the ‘toughest’ fifty minutes of my life, it was finally lunch. I heaved a euphoric sigh of relief. If I had to spend one more minute with that self-centered pig, then I surely would have strangled him. He brought out my violent streak like no one else ever did. In fact, before today, I have never had such violent thoughts. I have always been calm and collected. You know the one with kind-heart. For God’s sake, I was often teased with the title, ‘Miss Goody-Two shoes.’ My face was contorted in anger, when I was walking towards the cafeteria. I was trying and really trying to calm myself down but just couldn’t. This day had taken its toll on me. I wanted nothing more than my comfortable bed, tub of mint chocolate chip ice-cream with a nice movie. I was having this thought, when suddenly someone grabbed me from behind. I saw red immediately and without thinking, grabbed the man’s hand and bit hard, drawing his blood. “Owww.” I was instantly released as the guy started wincing in pain. I swear to God, if anyone tried to poke me one more time, I would murder that person. Consequences be damned. I was thinking this when I realized I knew this voice and person. Gulp. Now, I was in so much trouble.
