*MY MATE IS A SCAMMER*
*CHAPTER 3: HOUSE RULES*
Karl didn’t chase her.
He let her run.
Because wolves don’t chase prey that will come back on its own. Especially when the prey has nowhere to go.
48 hours later, his men found her.
She was in another motel, 2 towns over. Same fake Gucci bag. Different wig. Scamming a 62-year-old widower out of his pension with a "US Army General in Syria" profile.
When the door kicked in, she didn’t scream.
She just sighed, like she was tired.
*"Took you long enough, Alpha."*
She was sitting on the bed, counting cash. Again.
Karl stepped in. 6'4. Suit. Dead eyes.
*"House rules,"* he said. *"Rule 1: You’re coming with me. Rule 2: You don’t run. Rule 3: You don’t scam my pack."*
She stood up slowly. Jasmine and trouble.
*"And if I say no?"*
*"Then I carry you. And the Elders will decide your punishment."*
She looked at him. Really looked.
Ten years of searching and the Moon Goddess gave him _this_? A girl with fraud charges and a mouth.
*"Fine,"* she said, grabbing her bag. *"But I have conditions."*
Karl raised a brow.
*_"One: You pay me. I’m not doing mate duties for free.
Two: No pack politics. I hate meetings.
Three: You don’t touch me unless I say so."__
Karl almost laughed.
*"You’re in no position to bargain, scammer."*
*"And you’re in no position to reject me, Alpha. I’m your mate. Remember?"* She held up the fake certificate from Chapter 1. His name was still on it. In her handwriting.
Checkmate.
The drive back to Blackwood territory was silent.
Until she broke it.
*"So... what do werewolves eat for breakfast? Because if it’s oatmeal I’m leaving."*
Karl didn’t answer. But his wolf was pacing.
_Mine. Mine. Mine.*
They pulled into the pack gates 3 hours later.
200 werewolves. Staring.
And in front of everyone, Karl announced:
*"This is my mate. Her name is... "*
He paused. He didn’t even know her real name.
She smiled and waved.
*"Call me Trouble. It fits."*
The Elders looked like they wanted to die.
