I was so frustrated with Slade's refusal to entertain my desires that I hadn't noticed the route we were taking. It wasn't until we started drawing near the inn along the border that the alarm bells in my head started sounding off. Realizing where we were, my need to satisfy my heat had fled.
"Where are we going?" I demanded as the sense of unease grew.
"The roads have been closed, haven't you been paying attention?" Slade chuckled. "Piper linked me a bit ago and said there's a little inn not too far that we can stay for the night."

Slade cut his eyes toward me; his eyebrows dipped down. "Why not? We're still hours away from home, and I doubt you want to sleep in the car."
