Chapter seven: Burning

LIBERTY'S P.O.V

How come it was always burning? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind flames or anything, I just minded being in flames. Ever since that stupid potion-poison from a while back, it’s like I haven’t been able to get away from, well, flames.

I wasn’t really aware of my surroundings as I was preoccupied burning up, but I was heavily aware of the consciousness trying to take over my mind. I recognized it as the one who was in control when I was in my bird form and it scared me. Because under no circumstances would I allow that murderous thing back in control.

So I was kinda just stuck there, burning as I fought off the thing trying to lay a blanket over my mind. It went on for what felt like forever until, finally, the other consciousness let me be in control.

The changes were immediate. Once again, everything around me seemed to be vibrating with color, the air buzzing and it was wonderful. I was also painfully aware of the fact that I was higher above the ground than I was before the flames.

I looked sideways and could see the wings carrying me like it was second nature, I didn’t even have to do anything for them to keep me afloat. Looking around with my strangely flexible neck and sharp vision, I took in as much as I could of myself, and I had to admit, I looked badass, in a totally scary way, because why the f**k was I a bird…

I finally allowed myself to take in my surroundings and my eyes landed on the beautiful witch again. Now that I was in a more powerful form (even though I was a bird and that was weird, but I felt powerful ok? I wasn’t about to question it) it felt less threatening to look at her, though she still had that piercing glare, so maybe not so much.

“Come down here,” her tone was so demanding I didn’t even question it as I landed on the ground swiftly, folding my wings back.

Standing on the ground made me realize how huge I was though, as I towered over her by half a meter at least. She didn’t seem affected by that as she went to inspect me. Unlike last time when Jeremy petted my soft feathers, her touch wasn’t welcome. She walked around me in circles running her hands along my body, plucking up my wings, and forcing me to hold them out for her. It sent unpleasant shivers through me. It didn’t feel right.

I drew the line when she came to stand in front of me and motioned for me to open my beak. I refused and looked away hoping it would get the message across. It didn’t, and she tried to get hold of my face and force my beak open. That's when I snapped at her. I didn’t actually bite her but I forced my head out of her hold and snapped my beak warningly. She didn’t seem to like that and tried to move forward again, her hands stretched out for my face.

I knew I couldn’t harm her, heck I probably wouldn’t even be able to, but I refused to let her control me in such a vulnerable state. I wasn’t stupid either and could see the way her guards reacted the moment I had snapped my beak the first time. So, instead, I stretched my wings and flew up towards the high ceiling. Hoping she would leave me alone. I was again proved wrong as I felt invisible restrains fastening around me forcing me down to the ground. I felt unsafe and unsure of the place I was in. I was scared and that must’ve been what triggered her, the other consciousness.

I was forced to the back of my mind as she took over, lashing out. I trashed in the restraints, loud shrieks emitting from my beak, that was until another set of restraints forced it to shut.

Bad idea witchy…

Once again I was burning, always burning.
