Chapter 8: Devastation in the RegimeWe had an early, six o'clock breakfast the next morning. After all, we were going to need it in order to survive the rest of the day. I was sitting in a booth—half-asleep—at IHOP, leaning unconsciously against Jaiden's shoulder with swollen, unseeing eyes while Trinity's red-rimmed ones mirrored mine from across the table. My left leg kept twitching uncomfortably, which bothered me a lot, considering I had gotten zero sleep this Saturday morning and my body desperately wanted a long-deserved breather. But my damn leg…it continued to wake everything up! The party had been crashed by the cops. They let Dawson off with the whole we're-giving-you-one-more-warning since the real crime had been committed in his barn. I didn't know what they were going to do
