HERO ALPHA?

MALIA'S POV “Alpha, I'm…I'm sorry…shit” I mumbled, unable to muster the right words. He just gazed at me instead with a smirk that irritated me. “You didn't seem sorry when you seduced me yesterday” he answered, chuckling afterwards. “This was a mistake” I said coldly, dragging myself along with my clothes on the floor, to the bathroom. “There's no need to hide, Lia” Alpha Alaric called after me. I didn't stop however, rushing into my dress and fixing my hair as I peered into the bathroom mirror. I would've had a bath under different circumstances. But now, I needed to leave. And I needed to leave FAST! I walked back into the room and Alpha Alaric still had the same smirk that made my blood curl. I found my purse and was about to run out when he grabbed me from nowhere. Even at his age he still had crazy fast reflexes. I paused, trying to entertain how he had got to the door from the bed that fast. “You don't have to leave now, Lia” he cooed. This was the same voice that had made me weak in the knees the day before. Now it made me irritated and made me feel stupid for not fighting away the urge to make bad decisions like before. “I can't…I can't be seen with you…this was a mistake, Alpha” I told him, trying to free myself from his gentle hold. “But we both went in for it, Malia. I didn't force you and I know you enjoyed every bit of it” Alpha Alaric countered. “I was heavily drunk, Alpha! If I knew you were the Alpha, I wouldn't even dare” I cried. “What would it change? My being Alpha, I mean?” Alpha Alaric probed. “Everything. First of all, you're at least 20 years older than I am, if not more. You're Kurt's father and THE ALPHA. And I'm me…” I answered, my voice trailing off. “I don't care for the first two, Malia. The last though,…I'm perfectly fine with that” Alpha Alaric said to me. I could see why he was the stubborn Alpha. He moved closer to me, taking my hands in his broad palms. Then he placed his hands on my waist gently gripping. This was my cue to push him away and leave, but I stood there unable to move an inch. He inched even closer to me until there was no space between us, whispering to my ear. “I hope I get lucky enough to see this side of you again”. I coughed, almost choked up by the air of intensity he possessed. I wiggled my way out of his hold, grabbed my purse on a nearby chair and left the room. I could hear his laughter after I had left. I felt stupid for throwing myself at him, but even more, I felt stupid for drinking recklessly in the first place. I could tell he saw me merely as a prize he had conquered so easily. However, I couldn't beat the subtle feeling that I craved to be close to him again, wrapped into his warm body and to forget about all my problems. He was after all the first person who had made me feel good about myself in several years. But life was much more complicated than that, and for anyone like me who had a wild history, it was pure disaster. As I marched further away from the gates of his mansion with a scarf that had been in my bag on my head to hide my identity, my stomach began to grumble. “f**k! Not now” I cursed within, ignoring the hunger pangs. By the time I arrived at the alley leading up to the neighborhood, I could feel the insides of my stomach ripping out. I quickly dashed into the local store nearby to pick up something to eat with the last coins on me. The owner of the store, a middle-aged lady, knew me and although she was one of the very few people who had resorted to minding their business concerning my reputation, I could still feel her prying eyes constantly watching over my shoulder until I arrived at the counter with the few items I'd picked up. My eyes darted around the store as I adjusted my dress to cover up anything that might suggest I'd had s*x with the f*****g ALPHA. For the several years I had been in this town, this store had not changed much. From the stories I'd heard from Lupita, the owner had never really had a complete license to run a*****e so it was basically an underground store for the likes of us in the ‘slums’. As I waited for my turn in the small queue, I could feel my breaths getting timed, heavier, and my eyes began to dart around a little more quicker. I leaned against one of the shelves, trying to gain control of my surroundings again but I was losing. My body was betraying me as the seconds passed and I struggled to keep my body standing until I could finally pay and dig into the food. The person before me walked away and I dragged myself forward, facing the floor. The throbbing headache was back and now I was really struggling… “Is this a joke?”. I looked up to face the store owner whose eyes held anything but happiness. “Wh…what? Is something wrong?” I asked, confused. “You little snake! You're really pretending not to know that your little coins can't cover what you picked. I've been struggling to believe it myself but you're really a thief and a bad person!” She clapped back. I was completely shocked. I looked back to see that a longer queue had formed behind me, and the shame nearly swept me off my feet. “I'm sorry, I'll just return some…”. “So you can steal some more? No way! I don't let thieves wander my store anyhow” she retorted. I was getting angry, and the fact that I'd messed up earlier resulting in an overall bad day, was not helping. “Don't call me a thief ma'am. I'll just take whatever my money can cover and leave, I promise” I told her. “No! I'll search you for any stolen goods and then you'll leave. End of story” she snapped. At this point, the people behind me were exchanging whispers and this whole process was becoming disgraceful. “I didn't take anything! You have no right to search me” I snapped back. “That's where you're wrong, girl! It's my damn store and I'll do whatever I damn want, you thief! You are just like your mother!”. “For the last time I'm not a thief! And I will not allow you to compare me to my mother”. I looked around again for any older person who would be willing to step between us, but no one came forward. Mostly because they were all recording on their phones. “Fine, I'll leave! But YOU WILL NOT SEARCH ME” I screamed at her. A scream I instantly regretted. I was losing strength and the exchange of words between me and the crazy woman in front of me was not helping one bit. I turned around to leave but then I felt a hand on my shoulder aggressively turning me to face the counter. Before I could say another word, a heavy slap hit my cheek. I stumbled, finding myself on my knees. People around began to interfere and there was chaos. I shut my eyes. I was weak and at her mercy. I managed to drown out the all the noise, or so I thought. Then it all went quiet. I opened my eyes to the most unexpected image I could see. The image of Alpha Alaric's hand on the store owner's neck. I panicked. What was he doing here? “Please…don't kill her” I managed to mutter. He turned his gaze to me and hesitated for a few more seconds before releasing his hand from her neck. “This will serve as a warning because I will make sure you don't expect your own bloody funeral the next time you so much as say any ill words to her! Now do yourself a favor and close up this ‘thing’ by the end of today before I have my men do it for you”. The woman stood back, falling to the floor with fear in her eyes. She nodded frantically, scrambling away and trying to control her breathing. She was in shock as she watched him approach me. Alpha Alaric then stretched his hand towards me. “Let's go”. For the first time in my life, I felt like I truly had someone who genuinely cared for me.
