Catherine's POV
Beta left with the pack warriors, leaving me at the edge of the territory with my luggage scattered all around.
I lay on the ground covered with fallen leaves and cried for a long time. The pain spread from the depths of my heart. Ever since my mother died, my father announced that my stepmother was the new Luna. She hated me and abused me while Alpha was away. I tried to tell my father but he never believed me.
From then on, I was like an outsider in the pack house. I tried my best to live cautiously, hoping that I could find my mate and leave here to start over. Today, however, all hope is shattered.
'What should I do...'
Perhaps I was too tired from crying, and the feeling last night of being took over reappeared. Vaguely, I seemed to hear a voice that liked be wrapped in a plastic sheet, blurry.
I sat up in horror and looked around. Apart from the rustling of the leaves in the wind, no one passed by.
At this moment, pierce through the layer of membrane cloth, a deep and gentle female voice suddenly appeared in my mind.
"Hello, Catherine," she said, "I'm your wolf."
"W-what?" I subconsciously wanted to ask, but the next second, a sharp pain engulfed my entire body and I couldn't say a word.
I felt my body being pulled by countless forces. The bones in my body were rapidly expanding, growing, tearing apart, making me scared. Am I going to die?
"Easy, Catherine." The voice sounded in my ear again, " I'm helping you finish your first shift."
I gasped heavily and concentrated on gradually letting go of control of my body according to what she said. Then, after a series of sounds of bones shifting, I suddenly stood up.
I lowered my head to look at the wolf claws steadily stepping on the ground. I closed my eyes, feeling my enhanced smell and hearing. An excited feeling made me walk away and began to run in the forest.
I nimbly shuttled through the woods, past bushes, and the cool breeze scratched my fur. This refreshing feeling made the irritation in my heart gradually dissipate.
I ran to a lake and stopped. I lowered my head to look at my reflection in the lake. It was my wolf, a robust white wolf.
"Hi, are you there?" I tried to call my wolf in my head.
"Yes, always," she said. "You can call me Eva."
Hearing her voice, I breathed a sigh of relief, "Hi Eva! I don't know why you're here now, I mean, I thought I'd never be able to shift, But whatever I'm not scared anymore."
"I didn't do it on purpose." Eva's voice was low, "Because I've always been trapped somewhere else."
"Where?" Eva's words puzzled me.
"You'll know later." Eva obviously didn't want to talk about it anymore, so she continued, "I suggest you go back and get your luggage as soon as possible and find a place to stay before dark. I can sense more than one rogues were in this forest."
"Don't worry, we're one of them now." I wanted to shrug, but in wolf form I could only shake my fur.
"Trust me, you're not their match yet." Eva said slowly, "Because you're pregnant."
"What are you talking about?!"
Five years later
"Hi Miss, stop peeking at us. I'll be angry If you did it again." My lovely son Noah looked at a shewolf who was resting near a tree. His serious manner of speaking caused the resting rogues to burst into laughter.
"Baby Noah, don't be so serious." I gently stroked my son's hair and hugged my daughter Hedwig tightly.
Five years ago I was kicked out of the Red Rose pack by my father and became a rogue. Soon after, I found out I was pregnant. Fortunately, I met some kind rogues. With their care and help, I gave birth to twins, Noah and Hedwig.
"Mommy, are you tired? You can sleep for a while. Noah and I will be good." Hedwig looked at me with her big eyes.
Noah and Hedwig looked very cute. They were young, but had wise that not match for their age. They always had methods to make rogues who met us help us.
This time, the rest rogues and I formed a temporary rogue pack to participate in the mating ritual in Shadow Forest. Not all rogues were born as lone wolves. Some of us were forced to be rogues because their packs were destroyed.
They yearned to return to the pack, living peaceful life.
There were many wolf packs attending mating ritual every year, and they may meet their mates or convince one of Alpha to accept them.
For the past five years, I have lived far away from Shadow Forest, far away from my father's pack, my sad place.
I came back for Noah and Hedwig because they were old enough to go to school, and no werewolf school would accept rogue pups, so I had to join a pack. I believe there would be wolf packs that will accept us for wanting more strong pups, even though I was a rogue without mate and with two children,
That was why I'm not going to find mate in the mating ritual. As for the mysterious werewolf, Noah and Hedwig's father, I hated him no less than I hated my father and stepmother.
The rogues howls came from the depths of the forest not far away. The rest time was over, and we were about to continue on running. Out of a sudden, a sharp and painful howl sounded from the forest.
All of us stopped.
"Run! Run now!"
