Monday mornings were the worst, but this one had an extra layer of tension — courtesy of Daniel Storm.
I was walking down the corridor toward my locker when I felt it: a familiar shadow falling over me.
“Morning, princess,” he drawled, leaning casually against the wall, arms crossed.
I froze mid-step. “Morning,” I said flatly, keeping my head down.
He tilted his head, eyes scanning me in a way that made my pulse pick up. “You’re awfully quiet today. Planning to outsmart everyone at school with just that sharp tongue of yours?”
“Better than wasting my time with people who think they’re smarter than me,” I shot back, glaring at him.
He smirked. “Fair enough. But you know, some people do need a reminder that I exist.”
Before I could respond, the bell rang. Students started moving toward their classes, but Daniel didn’t budge.
“Don’t even think about following me,” I said under my breath.
“I’m not following,” he said smoothly. “I’m… supervising.”
I rolled my eyes. “You’re impossible.”

The Classroom Tease
By second period, I found myself sitting next to Daniella again, trying to ignore the way Daniel’s presence loomed near the back of the classroom. He was leaning against the wall, casually tossing a paper ball at a trash can — except every time it missed, his eyes flicked toward me.
I groaned quietly. “Why does he even exist?”
Daniella shrugged. “Because some people just like testing your patience. You should try throwing a paper ball at him sometime.”
I frowned. “And risk him chasing me down the hall?”
Daniella laughed. “Worth it.”
Halfway through the lesson, my rival, Bianca, decided to stir trouble. She sauntered over, smiling sweetly in a way that could curdle milk.
“Hi,” she said, leaning close, voice low. “Enjoying your little… fame after last week?”
Before I could snap back, a shadow fell across the desk.
Daniel.
He leaned over, one hand braced on the edge of my desk, the other tucked casually in his pocket. “Touch her again, Bianca, and you’ll regret it,” he said, voice calm but threatening.
Bianca’s smile faltered for a split second. Then she raised her chin, muttering something about “overprotective boyfriends.”
I blinked. “I… don’t even—”
Daniel’s smirk cut me off. “Relax, princess. You know I don’t need a reason to protect you.”
I swallowed, feeling heat rise to my cheeks. And just like that, he walked away, leaving me fumbling for words.

After School – Daniella’s House Again
That evening, I went to Daniella’s house to help her with some project. I didn’t expect Daniel to be there — but of course, he was lounging in the living room, shirtless, playing video games.
“Hey,” he called, not looking up. “You planning to help, or just watch me dominate?”
I crossed my arms. “I’m not here for you.”
“Sure you’re not,” he said, glancing at me from the corner of his eye, smirk tugging at his lips.
I sighed. “You’re infuriating.”
“And yet, you keep coming back,” he replied smoothly, eyes glinting.
I wanted to roll my eyes, but my chest was betraying me — thumping harder than it had any right to.
We spent the next hour working on Daniella’s project. Every time I reached for something, our hands brushed. Every time I glanced at him, he caught my stare and smirked.
By the end, I was exhausted — not from the work, but from keeping my emotions in check around him.

A Dangerous Realization
As I left that night, I realized something I didn’t want to admit:
Daniel Storm didn’t annoy me anymore.
Not completely.
He frustrated me. He teased me. He made me feel things I didn’t understand.
But beneath all that… I felt drawn to him.
And that scared me more than any opponent I’d faced in the gym.
