Chapter Eight

1548 Words
Chan's POV "What are you doing here?" I paused when Reina entered the ballet studio. I was about to practice for the audition and since I don't have a place to practice at our house, I chose to stay here at school to practice.  "Reina" "Did you just register for the audition?" She raised an eyebrow at me. Is she mad? "I want to try dancing again." I replied.  "That's great!" She suddenly exclaimed as she approached me and held my hand. "We were able to audition together! I can't wait to finally see your dance again Chan!" She added. Is she really happy about me going back? "Really?" "Of course. However, I want to have a good fight. Goodluck." She laid her hands in front of me while she was smiling so I accepted it. It's a relief that she isn't that Reina I knew before. I bet she really changed. She changed a lot. "Chandrea!" Someone entered the studio and I don't think I need to guess who it was because with the voice, it really Lucas. "Oh--Hi Reina." Lucas greeted Reina and looked at me as he whispered. "What is she doing here?" He asked. "I'm just here to check the studio. I am not here to practice because I have a private room at our house. Well, I have to go. Bye Chan!" I nodded as she waved at me. She paved her way out of the studio while Lucas was looking at me suspiciously.  "What now?" "Are you really friends with that Reina already?" "I think so. Why are you so cold to her?"  "I don't like her." "Tch. What are you doing here by the way?" "I am here to watch you dance! Did you forget already? I will help you gain your confidence!"  "Really huh?" He sat on the floor in front of me while he was smiling like a kid.  "Come on, Chan. You have to start practicing. Just think of me as an ordinary audience." He uttered. Actually, I am really afraid to dance again but with Lucas watching me, I feel really comfortable. He started the music and I started to dance. The music feels new to me even though I have danced it since I was a kid.  Lucas' POV She is really one of a kind. Every time she dances in front of me, I feel something magical. The way she dances touches the heart of the audience. I really believe she will go a long way. *flashback* "Angel Lucas, you have your last mission before I send you back to paradise." Big Boss is my senior and my mentor up in heaven. "What is it Big Boss?" He snapped and out of nowhere he showed me a scenario of a girl who was crying in a funeral. It turns out to be her father. After that, a scenario of a girl being locked at a room was shown and she was crying really hard while shouting for help. A girl who was riding her scooter was shown as well while delivering food. "She is Chandrea and she is only living with her mother now. She is a ballerina and she has stopped dancing since that she was locked before a very important performance and her father died." "So what is my mission?" "Love and art." What?! Love? How?! "You have to make her dance again and you have to make her love her life." "How am I going to do that?!" Big Boss smirked at me. "That's for you to find out."  *end of flashback* He has sent me to land with the body of a human. I will live as a human so I can fulfill my mission and that's when I met Eros, my brother. I treated him as my brother because he helped me when I was wandering at the street. He offered me to live with him so I agreed.  Then, I met Chan at the most unexpected time. The deity really has a plan for my mission. He allowed me to meet this woman at the right time. I was looking for her for a long time but I can't find her. Because someone had mistaken me as a thief, I met her. Now, all I need to do is to fulfill my mission but how can I make her love? How can I find the love she needs?  She will be able to dance again. I can fulfill a part of my mission but how about the love? How will I do that? "Lucas!" "Huh?" "How was my dance?" "Huh--You--You were great! It was great!" Aish. Lucas, you were spacing out again. "You are lying. You are not watching me." "I--I'm sorry." "Is there something that bothers you? You were spacing out lately."  "N--nothing." "I am tired."  "Here." I handed her a bottle of water as she sat down in front of me. She smiled and drank the bottled of water that I gave her. "You know what Lucas? You are right." Huh? "I am happy when I dance. I am happy again to see myself dance. I can feel peace." "Are you happy?" "Of course. Dancing is my second life." That's good to know Chan but I am sorry. "I decided to dance again because of you. Thank you Lucas but I hope you can stay by my side to watch me." "I can't do that." She looked at me curiously. "Huh?" "When you become a famous ballerina, you will be able to go on different places, different countries, I can't always be by your side." Yes, what a good lie, Lucas. "Oh--right." Why does she seem sad? Chan's POV I don't know why I am feeling this sad but Lucas had tapped me to start dancing again. He became an important friend to me already. "Here." He took my wrist and tied something to me. A handkerchief? "That's my lucky charm for you." "Why are you giving it to me?" "So that even if I am not with you, just think of that handkerchief as me." Aigoo. He is becoming a little bit corny but I appreciate it. "I am going to start again." "Go. Take the dance floor, Chan." He answered so I stood up and started practicing again while he was watching me. ~*~ The day of the audition came and I can see a lot of students who were already wearing their ballet shoes and clothes for the audition. Gosh. I am getting nervous. "Chandrea." It was Reina. She stood beside me facing the mirror as I was preparing myself for the audition. "Goodluck." I smiled at her while I was putting powder on my face. "Goodluck." I replied. She just smiled at me and went out of the comfort room. After I fixed myself, I went to the auditorium where the audition is going to be held. There are a lot of students who were already waiting at the seats for the start of the audition. I took a seat and took a deep breath. Chandrea, you can do this. Dad, I know you are watching me. I can do this right? I also tied the handkerchief that Lucas gave to me last time on my wrist. I don't know why but whenever I am looking at this handkerchief, I feel at ease even if he's not here. Lucas is a nice guy and he proved me wrong. First impressions really don't last. "Good afternoon, students." A professor said at the microphone. "I am Mr. Lee, the artistic director of the Corp's de Ballet, I will be the judge for your audition and along with me are three of the alumni from our organization." After what he said, a woman and two men went out of the backstage. They were wearing a corporate attire and the way they walk was so elegant. They really have the body and moves of ballet dancers. "Let's start." The students whispered at each other and they started calling names. The music started and the first batch of students started to dance one by one. I can really see that they prepared for this. Now, I am starting to feel more nervous. I must not be nervous because I am confident but why am I feeling this way? Chan, you can do it!  I was with Lucas last morning when we went to school and he really cheered for me before he went to his first class. He also apologized that he can't watch my audition because he has his class. Reina was called next. She stood in front of the judges and the other students who were already done with their piece, she stood at the stage with her first pose. The music started and she started to dance as well. Her moves really improved a lot. I can still remember how she was always scolded by our coach whenever she commits mistakes. I can still remember how hurt she was when our coach tries to fix her poses. I can feel her pain and I know she was hurt that's why I can't blame her for being like that. I know she was only hurt. "Ms. Uy." I was finally called. Today, I will perform 'Giselle.'
