WHY ARE THEY DISTANT FROM HER

1776 Words
Patrick’s P.O.V.       I didn’t know why our company needed this alliance with White’s. They were more successful than us and their CEO, Mr Thomas White, can invest in our company without his demand of marrying off his daughter, that stubborn Sara White, who is also known as The Cold Queen in the business world to me. She was nowhere the girl that I liked to be mine.       I already hated her so much that I couldn’t stand her a second in front of me yet here she was taking vows of life with me. I couldn’t say that she was not beautiful. She had the most beautiful deep sea-green eyes that I had ever seen. The emptiness in her eyes always intrigued me. She was The Cold Queen and one what could expect from her. She always had that cold mask on her face as if she didn’t belong to this world. Well… actually I really thought sometimes that she didn’t belong to this world. She never showed any emotion on her face as if she had switched off all her emotions as the Vampire can do. That was what I had seen in the famous serious The Vampire Diaries. I loved Caroline’s character. No... I didn't believe in the existence of Vampire or werewolves at all... they are nothing else but fiction I knew but Sara reminded me about Elena Gilbert when she switched off her humanity after her brother's death.       When the priest announced that I could kiss her, I took her in my embrace and smirked at her reaction. She was looking like living in a trance right now. I lifted her veil and my breath hitched for once. She was looking so kissable. I doubted if someone had kissed her before or not. I leaned towards her and she put her hands on my chest. I could see the fear on her face right now.       "Welcome to my hell, princess... you will get everything but not me", I said with a sinister smile on my face. I hate her so much that it didn’t matter how much she looked irresistible right now. My lips almost touched her lips but I moved away. Suddenly she grabbed the collar of my coat and pulled me towards her taking me off guard. She maintained the same distance that we had between us before.     "Keep your words in your mind for the rest of our lives.... I want everything but you", she said while looking straight into my eyes with her signature cold look on her face right now. I was surprised by her words. She was my wife and above all, a girl. She must have some dream of having a loving husband or something like this. I tried to find anything in her eyes but there was nothing but emptiness with a wicked smile on her lips.       She slowly let go of my coat and then looked at the crowd who was now cheering aloud. I immediately regained my demeanour and looked at the crowd with a fake smile on my face. I snaked my hand around her waist and pulled her towards me as if we were a loving couple. She put her hand on my chest right above my heart that made my heart skipped a beat again. Why I had this effect on me?         We stepped down from the altar and everyone started congratulating us. My mom embraced her and that was when I saw a pure smile on her face. I was thanking everyone while looking at her face that was completely changed now. She looked so fragile and vulnerable in my mom’s embrace that I doubted that I had married the same girl. What was she?             “Now… you are a married man, huh?” my best buddy Nicholai teased me and I scoffed at his words while taking a glass of wine from a server. “You know the reality behind this marriage… so don’t bother me”, I used a cold tone this time and sipped at my wine. Nicholai laughed a little on my rambling and then looked away while sipping on his wine.           “Who is that man beside your wife?” he asked me and I looked in the direction where he was looking right now. My blood boiled instantly when I saw her smiling and laughing with a man and a girl standing with her. The man had his hand on the back of her waist. I knew him. “They are her childhood friends, David Webb, he is a doctor and Iris Spears. She is a fashion designer”, I told him with disdain in my voice. She was so comfortable with them that made me hated her more.           “They look close”, he commented again while sipping his wine and I shot daggers on him. “She is nothing but a liability of this deal for me. I swear that I will throw her out of my life before our first anniversary”, I said with a determination in my voice and gulped down the rest glass in one go. He chuckled at my reaction but didn’t say a word.           “What’s the plan for tonight then?” he asked me and I clicked my tongue. “I am going to celebrate my marriage in my own style”, I winked at him and he laughed with me. He knew very well what I meant. “You are always a b****d or I came to know this today, huh?” he said in an amusing tone and I laughed while taking the other glass.       “Hey, son… come here”, I looked at the direction of my mother who was ushering me to come there. “Here… ready for the drama”, I gave my glass of Nicholai and then plastered a fake smile on my face. I straightened my coat and went near my parents. I loved my mom. She was the best person in my life. My relationship with my father was…. Okay… a bit complicated….         “It’s time for the first dance… go and bring your bride here”, she said in a chirpy tone and I passed a smile to her while looking at my wife who was oblivious of everything near her. I cleared my throat and looked at my mom. She gave me a look and I sighed in defeat. I slowly went near her. “Excuse me, guys…. Can I borrow my wife?” I put my hand on the back of her waist and took her hand in my hand while giving a fake smile to her friends. “Yeah… sure… she is all yours”, David winked at her and she shot daggers at him. I mentally rolled my eyes as I didn’t have time for their drama.         “It’s time for the first dance”, I informed her and she sighed. “Do we need to do this?” she asked me in a low tone while going in the middle of the floor. “What to say? Let’s go with the flow”, I looked at her while standing in front of her and we both took our place in front of each other.         Everyone scattered a little away from us to give us the space. The music begins and we both started dancing. I was amazed by her again. It was like she was floating in between my hands. Her moves were so swift as if she was meant for dancing only. I had to accept that she amazed me twice today.         Soon the others joined the dance floor. I expected that his father or his cousin would come for her but no one came. She just bowed in front of me without looking at me after we finished our dance and went away straight to her friends. I watched her retreating figure and narrowed my eyes on her friends who had pity look on their faces now. I then remembered that it was David who accompanied her to the altar. Her family was present here and they were so distant from her as if she didn’t belong to them.           “May I?” I looked down and groaned in frustration. Her cousin who was annoying me since the day our marriage had been fixed was now standing beside me while looking at me for the next dance. “I am not interested”, I said in a cold tone. She was okay… with fake features, unlike Sara who was naturally beautiful. Her cousin was a flirt and I just hated her guts.           I was about to leave when she suddenly put her hand on my torso and said in a seductive tone, “You know I am better than in every way… you just need to give me a chance… I can prove you”. I hated this girl more than Sara. I meant I was her sister’s husband and she was seducing me??? What the f**k was this?         “I am happy with her and don’t think that you can stand anywhere near her?” I said in a disgusting tone and removed her hand from my body and without giving her time to react move from there. My parents were dancing together and I smiled at them. Mom was looking so happy right now. I went near to Nicholai and he gave my glass back to me.           “What’s wrong?” he asked me as I was looking at Sara while drinking my wine. “What is she, Nicholai?” I asked him while eyeing my wife who was standing with her friends in a corner as if it was not her marriage. "What do you mean?" I looked at him again and confusion was written all over his face. "If I am not wrong, it was her father that proposed this agreement. Now her whole family is not even near her. Is she their own daughter or adopted?" I asked him in confusion and he sighed. "I don't know the real deal but I have heard that her father didn't like her and forbade others to show love or care towards her", I almost choked down on my wine and coughed hard. "What?" I asked him in shock to confirm what he told me. He shrugged his head and drank his wine. I looked at my wife again. She must had done something that made her father took this kind of decision and now he had thrown his burden on me.
