The snow lies light upon my window ledge While through the cold and wind the snow birds wedge To leave small footprints in its dazzling white, So robbing winter of its long dark night. When through the day all tasks seem strangely vain. I hug up close to the window pane. And there is scratched upon the fine cut snows A love to warm my heart from winter"s blows. For tiny pilgrims with a mission sweet Have wrought a miracle by slender impressed feet. So am I taught to trust and brave each blast? While only snowbirds brought me faith, at last.
