After dinner, I talk to Michelle. I want to know if she had heard anything about me.
She confirms that she heard some rumors. They were pretty much the same as what Dirk had said about me.
It’s actually a relief. I’ve gleaned from TV shows that high school can be a horrible game of rumor telephone, with each person embellishing the story a little bit more. I feel a little better, as there haven’t been any wildly off-base stories started about me. Yet.
I ask Michelle if she can do some damage control, and she agrees. Anytime she hears something about me, she‘ll try to downplay it. I don’t think many people associate Michelle with me yet, so maybe it will do some good to have her address what rumors she can. I can tell that she feels bad that I had a rotten first da
