CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

2133 Words

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE1-1-1 I wake up in a sleeping bag in the living room, the windows still dark. I look over and smile. Celeste is still right there in her own sleeping bag, angelic in sleep. Her dad is on her other side. I look around, noting the placement of everyone. Jeff and Michelle are each on a couch, while Natalie snuggles next to Jack and Susan. The only one missing is Jason, who I assume is still at his sleepover. Mark had chosen to not inform the friend’s parents about the kidnapping, hoping that everyone would make it back. Even now, I see the probabilities given me by the black cylinder. There are fewer links than before, since I’m in a closed room, but all the filaments connected to my sleeping friends and family are jumping around like a drop of water on a hot frying pan
