“I can’t promise any of that,” Renee sighed.
“I know, but will you at least promise me that you will try?”
“I’ll try.”
“Thank you. That’s all I can ask of you,” Jesse said as he kissed her hand.
Renee gave him a shy smile and he couldn’t help but grin back at her. They talked while they were eating and Renee fed Christian. He noticed that while Renee was talking to him, it almost seemed as if she was sad. Was it because it was her birthday and he hadn’t said anything about it?
