Nita wasn"t one to panic. She"d been on her own too long for that. And yet, panicked was how she felt right at that moment in time. She couldn"t help it, not with the odd sensation of being watched that had accompanied her since she"d first entered the forest three days ago.
It wasn"t that she was particularly worried about what could happen to her. No matter what, she"d survived worse in her life, and she had her secret to protect her. After all, no one ever expected the unassuming dark-haired girl to be able to turn into a wild animal. In hindsight, it might have been safer for her to travel in bear form from the start, but then bears were a rarity in these parts. Plus, she tried not to shift unless absolutely necessary. Not after what happened to her family.
