Vic Vic shifted as he ran, four powerful legs replacing his own; hopefully, his dark coat would help him blend into the forest and not be easily seen by Nita. He knew that it wasn’t particularly fair of him to run away, especially after the kiss they’d just shared. And what a kiss. Which was the whole problem. Since his parents’ deaths, he’d tried to avoid feeling anything at all, and he’d become pretty good at it too. One kiss with a pretty shifter had been all it took to undo all that hard work though. He could feel the emotions welling up inside him and threatening to overflow. He wasn’t sure what it was about her, but what he was feeling reminded him of his brother’s voicemails a couple of months ago. Vic felt bad for not returning Kem’s calls now, and for not picking up the phone
