A couple of days later
Another morning had come, the sun shone bright and the light came through Jisoo's room. Jisoo was reluctant to wake up, but her stomach was grumbling. So, with a heavy movement, she decided to wake up.
" Oh It's already 9 am, no wonder I'm hungry," she told herself. She walked to the kitchen through the living room, and there she saw her wedding photo still hanging on the wall. She stopped and looked into the photograph. She touched it, and she felt the pain again. " Jinyoung, I miss you so much. " Her tears fell, but then she quickly wiped her tears as she saw her mom coming.
"Oh hi Mom, good morning." she greeted her mom and hugged her. Jisoo tried her best to show a cheerful side to her. She didn't want to make her mother worried. She had promised her family that she would be trying to move on and she was going to keep her promise.
" Hello, sweetheart, how are you today?" Mrs. Kim Jihye, her mother, returned her hug but from the look in her eyes, Jisoo knew that her mother was still concerned about her condition.
" I'm doing very well these days. Don't worry. Mom, what do we get for breakfast? I'm starving." Jisoo tried to divert the conversation, and didn't want her mother to find out her true feelings that she was trying to hide.
"Your brother bought you a chicken sandwich. He said that it was from your favorite bakery. He wants me to make sure that you eat the sandwich." Mrs. Kim noticed tears on Jisoo's cheeks but then she decided to ignore it, reluctant to ask for the reason. She was afraid that her question would hurt her daughter again.
" Wow, Oppa is the best. Where is he right now? I want to give him a big hug for being such a good brother."
"He had left early in the morning, he said he had to see his client before the trial started."
" Huh, that sucks. Why has he been so busy lately? I feel so lonely."
"You already knew that he wanted to be a great lawyer and he worked hard to get to where he is today. We must always support him." Her mother rubbed Jisoo's head and tried to calm her down. Jisoo wasn't angry with Jinwoo. She understood that her brother was very busy, but she still wanted more attention from Jinwoo like when they were in school.
" I support him, ma'am, but he should still make time for his sister." Jisoo pouted her lips, expressing her disappointment.
Mrs. Kim could only smile at the childish behavior of her daughter. She remembered when her children went to kindergarten. Jisoo always wanted to be in the same class as her brother, even though Jinwoo was one year older than her. Every morning there was always drama before they went to their respective classes.
" Do you want to eat the sandwich right now dear? I will warm it for you." Mrs. Kim tried to entice her with food.
" I would love to have it now mom, thank you so much." Her facial expression was changing, she looked happy.
" You are always welcome, dear. "
Jisoo watched her mother who was preparing breakfast for her. Her mother's warm gaze always soothed Jisoo, as if reminding her that whenever she was feeling anxious she could come to her mother and find comfort. Her wise words never fail to give strength when Jisoo is having a tough day. Her mother was always the first person to support her when Jisoo faced a problem. She knew very well that her family wanted to see her rise from the slump, therefore she would also do her best to make it happen.
After her last conversation with Jinwoo, Jisoo tried hard to find a way to bring back her confidence because she thought it was the main problem that she had to solve. After Jinyoung's death, she chose to avoid meeting people. She avoided hearing people ask her how she was, people comforting her to stay strong, and pitying looks from people at her. She hated all of that, and without her knowing, it made her lose her confidence when she had to meet people other than her family. After considering many things, Jisoo decided to go back to work and she chose to return to her old job.
Jisoo was determined to get back to work as soon as possible. Jisoo feels working in a familiar place was the only way to help her out of this situation. Two days ago, she had contacted Dara, her senior, at her previous job. Dara said she would immediately inform Jisoo if she found the right position for her.
Jisoo used to work as a fashion stylist for a famous singer in Korea and her work was well-known in the Korean entertainment industry. She loved his job but he chose to quit because she was getting married and she made that decision without any enforcement by Jinyoung. She wanted to be like her mother, who dedicated herself completely to being a housewife after marriage, but Jinyoung didn't agree with Jisoo's wish to stop working. Jinyoung wanted Jisoo to open her boutique because he knew it was one of Jisoo's dreams. She was very surprised but she was also happy knowing that Jinyoung supported her future goal. She was very grateful that Jinyoung was always there for her, supporting and taking care of her.
Now that Jinyoung's gone, Jisoo had to put her dream on hold. She understands that she has to start all over again. Jisoo knows that this time she has to work harder to make her dream come true. She had to revive her self-confidence, which seemed to disappear after Jinyoung left her side. She has to do this for her family and also for Jinyoung.
After enjoying her favorite chicken sandwich, Jisoo decided to spend some time chatting with her mother. It had been a long time since they had a heart-to-heart conversation and they both enjoyed their time together. Without them knowing it had been an hour and when Jisoo checked her cell phone there was a message from Dara.
" Mom, I have to go right now. Dara Eonni just sent a message. She said there was a job that suited me."
" A job? Are you going to start working again? Why so soon? "
"Why not, Mom? As an adult, I have to work. I should be able to make my own money. I can't continue to receive money from Jinwoo Oppa, right?"
" Are you going to work with Dara? "
" Probably yes." Jisoo cleaned up the dirty dishes without paying too much attention to her mother.
"But Jisoo, do you realize that this means you have to deal with your old environment? You know what that means, right?"
"Mom, I know you are worried about me but I need to get back to work. I just knew by working, I could get over this. Please believe me. "
" I do believe in you. I'm just afraid you'll get hurt again if you go back to work at the same place. There will be many memories between the two of you left there. Are you sure you can handle it?"
Mrs. Kim tried to accept her daughter's decision although she still felt a little worried. She knew very well that Jisoo had a solid principle, she would never want to live depending on others. Since childhood, Jisoo has been a strong girl. She was able to solve all the problems that came her way, but over the past month her mother had seen the fragile side of her and it had made her doubtful about Jisoo's mental readiness to start working again.
Jisoo was silent because she was actually also not sure if she could ignore her memories with Jinyoung and her mother was immediately aware of her daughter's doubts.
"See, you also look doubtful about this matter. Jisoo, please reconsider your decision to start working. Give yourself a little more time. We never think that you are a burden. Your father and I never had any objections to accompanying you. Your Oppa also never has a complaint about spending money on you. So I beg you to think over this matter, okay?"
Jisoo pondered her mother's words. On the one hand, Jisoo was not sure she would be able to overcome the memories of Jinyoung at her old workplace. But on the other hand, she had to take this opportunity so she could move on with her life faster. In the midst of the dilemma she was in, his cell phone rang as if as an answer to her doubts. It was from Dara.
" Mother, I'm sorry, but I have to go. Dara Oenni is waiting for me." She then looked at her mom. Mrs. Kim looked really worried. " Mom, I promise you that I'm going to be okay so don't worry too much. Bye Mom." Jisoo kissed her mother's cheek, then she ran to her room to get ready.
Mrs. Kim took a deep breath, she knew she wouldn't be able to persuade her daughter. She then walked into the living room and saw Jisoo and Jinyoung's wedding photo.
"Jinyoung, what should I do? I'm really afraid that Jisoo's condition will get worse if she starts working again, but her will is very strong. I can't persuade her. I can only pray that everything will be fine and I'm sure you will also take care of her from wherever you are."
Jinyoung POV
I'm sorry Mrs.Kim, I couldn't keep my promise. My heart hurts a lot when I see Jisoo slumped in sadness. I also want to take care of it right now, but I really don't know how. Everything that's happening to me right now is so confusing. Even so, I will still take care of Jisoo by all means and please believe that your daughter is able to get through everything well. Mrs. Kim please also support her decision because it's what she needs to bounce back and be happy again. Jisoo should be happy again and I will make sure it happens even if I can no longer be a part of her happiness.
