Slave Me, Daddy Alpha 10

10 ~ Rejected By My Mate. JAYDEN's POV Rafael began to descend the staircase slowly, each step confident and sure but he wasn’t alone. He held the hand of Aurelia, his younger sister, guiding her like she was the moonlight in his palm. She wore a delicate blush-pink gown that fluttered behind her like petals in the wind. Little crystal beads adorned the hem, catching every flicker of light. Her hair was braided into a crown atop her head, and her wide, curious eyes scanned the crowd like a girl too young to understand the weight of the evening but old enough to feel its pull. Every eye turned toward them. But mine? Mine didn’t leave Rafael. And his? He looked right at me. A slow, unbothered smirk spread across his lips. Rafael and Aurelia took their place on the thrones beside their parents. The ceremony began. Aurelia was first. The elder stepped forward, presenting her to the moon and calling upon the mate bond to awaken. She turned to the crowd. The moment her eyes locked with someone seated at the far end of the hall, her whole body stiffened. A glow pulsed between them—ethereal and undeniable. The bond had snapped. “MATE!” Aurelia gasped, her voice trembling with joy. Her chosen mate, a tall, gentle-looking man with ocean eyes and a calm aura, stood up slowly. The crowd erupted into cheers and applause. Aurelia made her way down the stairs slowly, each step taken with grace. She stopped when she reached where the man stood. They flashed a smile at each other. Then, they made their way together to the throne area, still beaming with smiles, their hands locked like soulmates born under the same star. And then came Rafael’s turn. My heart pounded. What’s going to happen? Would the earlier teasing change anything? Would the Moon Goddess punish me or reward me? The elder began the bonding chant. A strange shimmer overtook Rafael’s form. His wolf stirred. And then, his eyes met mine. Everything else vanished. The bond ignited like a lightning strike through my chest. Gasps exploded across the hall. Whispers bounced off the marble walls. He started walking toward me. Me? I… I was Alpha Rafael’s mate? “MATE!” Rafael’s voice tore through the hall like a thunderclap just as he was inches away from me. The sound echoed in my bones. My body froze. My mind spiraled. My lungs forgot how to breathe. The audience’s eyes turned and their mouths dropped while gasps flared across the hall like wildfire. “How can that filthy Omega be Alpha Rafael's mate?” “Is this a joke? A curse?” “The Moon Goddess must be blind.” “Why him? Of all people… a wolf like him?” Their sneers clawed at my skin. My legs trembled, but I stood still. Let me say barely. Then Rafael stepped forward, his frame towering over me, his eyes no longer glazed with desire but blazing with fury. He cupped my chin—no. He seized it with a firm, bruising grip. My eyes widened while my throat dried. “How dare you?” He growled, his nails biting into my skin like sharpened thorns. “I-I did nothing…” I choked, unable to move, unable to breathe. His slap landed hard, sharp and stinging, a cruel wake-up call. My ears rang. The tray in my hand slipped, shattering across the floor. I dropped to my knees with it, the glass biting into my knees. My blood trickled down my shin. Pain sang in my bones but the ache in my chest screamed louder. Why did he look at me like he wanted me earlier only to crush me now? Tears blurred my sight. Still, I saw his shadow looming. “RAFAEL! ENOUGH!” Alpha Zane’s voice thundered from his throne, silencing every whisper, every breath. The hall went still. Zane rose slowly, his commanding aura pulling everyone's spine straight. “He may be an Omega… but he has been chosen by the Moon Goddess to be your mate. You will accept him.” But Rafael's jaw tightened. His fists trembled at his sides. “Father,” he snapped, “I will not accept this thing as my mate.” Each word sliced through me like broken glass. I couldn’t stop the tears now. I was crying openly, tears steaming down my bruised cheeks. Still, no one moved to help me. No hand stretched out. No eyes softened. They watched. They waited. They listened to the Alphas like I wasn’t even human. “You will do what I’ve ordered.” Alpha Zane’s voice cracked like lightning. But Rafael turned back to me, his eyes wild. “I, Rafael Wolfsbane, reject you, Jayden, as my mate. Now and forever.” I gasped, doubling over as pain slammed through my body like a wrecking ball. My heart screamed. I just got rejected by my fated mate. By the man who almost touched my soul… and ruined it instead. “Rafael…” his mother, Luna Iris, whispered from the throne. He stormed off, striding toward the main doors of the grand hall like a possessed man. And then, he doors flung open. A tall man stepped through with the kind of presence that made the air itself hush. His hair was raven-black, slicked back to reveal a forehead sculpted like royalty. His cheekbones were carved from marble, sharp and divine. His steel-gray eyes cut through the room like blades, locking instantly on me. His skin was sun-kissed, smooth, and flawless. His jawline could draw blood. A hint of a scar slashed across his brow, but instead of marring his beauty, it added to the enigma he carried. His broad shoulders filled his obsidian suit. His silver sash shimmered in the candlelight, the Beta crest resting proudly on his chest. His boots echoed heavily as he moved closer… and closer. The crowd parted instinctively. I couldn't move but I felt a pull and an unexpected tug in my soul. “MATE.” My breath caught again as my heart thumped so violently that I thought it might burst. From behind me, I heard a panicked whisper. “Is he… is he going to mate with Beta Aurelius too?” “Beta Aurelius?” I muttered, my voice cracking.
