I woke up Friday morning earlier than usual. I had left my car at school since Nicky had to drive me to the hospital. So Pete was giving me a ride today.

I decided to wear a short, tight, grey long sleeve sweater dress and my thigh high heeled black boots. Its one of my new outfits I had ordered. Pete will be pissed and say I look too naked for school but I will enjoy getting a rise out of him. I leave my hair down in long loose waves as usual. Some eyeliner and blush and cherry lip gloss. I make myself some ice coffee and walk to the front porch. 

I stand between Mack and Alex, our 2 morning guards.

“Hey guys!” I say

“Morning Alpha.” They both grunt.

“Its nice out today huh?” I try making small talk.

They both just grunt.

Pete’s blue BMW pulls up.

“Well nice talking to you this morning! Have a good day!” I say waving.

I get into Pete's car and he just stares at me.

“What?” I ask, putting my backpack between my legs on the floor.

“You’re going to change, right?” He says.

“You’re going to drive, right?” I ask.

He sighs and drives us to school. I smile. I win!

The atmosphere in the parking lot is anxious this morning. Everyone around school has gotten word about the new students. I couldn’t care less. I had bigger problems. One being that I was in love with my mate’s best friend that considered him a brother. Basically a story line pulled from a Jerry Springer show. But of course, only I knew that thankfully.

I walked into the school and said hi to all my favorite people, and as I turned the corner there they were. Shadow Heights biggest pains in the ass.

Alpha Joshua, Beta Jackson, and Gamma Ronin along with some of their pack members. All 3 smiled at me and Pete. Pete grabbed my hand and put me behind him. At the same moment I noticed Dustin. I smiled and waved at him. His face and ears turned red and he turned around to his locker.

“See guys, I told you transferring to this school wouldn’t be so bad after all!” Joshua said. Jackson whistled and I could see Pete ready to explode. I looked back to Dustin. He watched what was going on with interest, almost worry. Was he worried about me?

“Alpha Alexandria, long long time, no see. And its a shame because I see your beauty has only increased. I see you are still not mated. I’m still looking for my Luna, you know?” Joshua said, trying to walk up to me. Pete pulled me back further behind him.

“Don’t come near our Alpha, Joshua. I will only give one warning.” Pete told him.

“Or what?” Jackson stepped up to him. “Know your place, Gamma. You will address Alpha Joshua by his title.” Pete glared at him.

I stepped up. “Boys! We can all be friends here, ok?” I walked up to Joshua. “Alpha Joshua.” I shook his hand. He took it and kissed it. He was handsome with his light brown hair and blue eyes, but a creep.

“Beta Jackson.” I shake his hand. His eyes flicker black and back to normal.

“Alpha Alexandria. Its been a while. What? 2 years has it been now?” I stare at him with no emotion. Hes cute too. Light Cocoa skin, hair done in tight cornrows, beautiful brown eyes, and one of those smiles that drives a woman wild. But he was too cocky. 

Yea, 2 years, dickhead. Since you got too grabby and Nicky had to kick your ass.

“Yes, yes. I think so.” I pull my hand away from him before he reels me in with his smile.

“And Gamma Ronin! Its been too long.”

“Alpha Alexandria! Every time I see you I forget how little but mighty you are!” Ronin says with his loud and infectious laughter.

I pull him in for a hug, causing Joshua and Jackson to drop their jaws. Now I like Gamma Ronin, I’m not gonna lie. He was nearly 7 feet tall with curly black hair. His eyes were silver and gleamed with what seemed eternal happiness. He was very respectful (as most Gammas were) and sweet. Too bad he worked for such a s**t pack.

“I expect my pack to be respectful to your pack, and I hope you will have the same expectations.” I say walking back to Joshua.

He smiles at me in a way that made me want to knock his head right off his shoulders. He leans down close to my face, looking right into my eyes. “And if I behave, what do I get in return?” Jackson stifles a laugh.

I hold his gaze with my own smile. “A long life.”

Pete pulls me back. “Ok, Xan. The bell will be ringing soon, we need to get to class now.”

I look back over to Dustin, but he’s gone now. Hm, where did he go? I wonder what his class schedule is.

I look back over and Joshua is staring at my breasts as Pete is arguing with Jackson about Goddess knows what.

I sigh and push through them to head to my class. How many more months til graduation?

I have at least one of those assholes in every single one of my morning classes. It makes all of my friends uncomfortable and on edge. I thought Nicky was going to scoop Jackson’s eyeballs out with a claw in English because he wouldn’t stop staring at my legs and shaking his head. Seriously, how do they run a pack? Are the women there safe?

“This is gonna be a long school year.” Nicky says looking down at his pasta at the lunch table. He looks stressed and tired. Mar rubs his back.

“That dickhead Alpha had the balls to tell me that football was for guys who couldn’t get girls off the field. Fuckin' dick.” Bentley says. I have to hold back a laugh. Its a really stupid insult and Bent has taken it to heart.

“Look at them over there, staring at Xan like a piece of meat.” Pete grumbles. I turn around to see what he’s talking about. They’re all just sitting at a table talking, not even facing our direction.

Oh boy. Pete is just looking for a fight now.

“Ok, guys. Just ignore them and stop letting them get under your skin. Its stupid. They know how much they bother you, so stop letting them do it.” I tell them. Meanwhile I’m over here fixing my makeup so I look good for class with Dustin. 

What am I gonna do when Derek comes back?

Let’s not think about that yet. One day at a time.

I feel someone standing behind me.

“f**k off, Alpha.” Bentley grumbles.

Joshua scoffs. "As if I have to listen to some common warrior’s son. Anyways, Alexandria, can I speak with you for a moment.” I hear Joshua say.

I roll my eyes towards my friends. They smile in return. I slowly turn to him and smile. “What can I help you with?” I ask sweetly.

“In private please.” He says.

Pete stands up so quickly, he pushes the table forward. “No!”

I turn back to Pete and sigh. “Its fine, Pete. I will be right in the hallway.” I get up and walk with Joshua to the hallway.

“WOOHOO! GO ALPHA!” I hear Jackson yell. I want to roll my eyes, but I refuse to waste anymore energy on Joshua.

We get out to the hallway and I turn around to face him with the biggest, fakest smile I can muster. This was part of my Alpha training years back. All fellow Alphas must be treated with respect, regardless. Disrespect causes wars. Especially on unclaimed territory like our school grounds. 

“What matters do you need to discuss, Alpha Joshua?” I ask leaning against the wall.

He puts an arm up beside me and leans next to me. “Alpha Alexandria-”

“Please just call me Xan. Here I am just a student.” I smile. 

I’m not an arrogant, selfish prick like you Joshua.

He smiles wider, as if I’ve accepted his Luna proposal. “Xan. I like that. It’s very fitting. So unique for such a uniquely beautiful woman.”

Ugh. Gag me. I guess I should be glad I’m mated to a rogue. At least they have some self awareness.

“Thanks, Alpha. And what can I help you with?” 

LETS GET TO THE POINT PLEASE!

“Please, Call me Josh. I would like to think we can be… close friends.” He moves closer to me. 

If he doesn’t talk Alpha matters soon, I’m going back to my fries. They know how to treat a woman.

I nod and smile.

“Xan, I was thinking that maybe we could get together for dinner one night. You know, two Alphas, discussing Alpha matters? I would love to know your ideas on how you’re going to run Dark Moon once your father passes you the title. Unless you plan to mate and become a Luna?” He smiles again.

Goddess, what a pompous prick. I would rather eat my front left paw than have dinner with you, fuckface.

“That sounds wonderful. I will have to check my schedule and get back to you.” I lie. 

Its not going to happen. 

Ever.

“I was hoping we could plan something soon. Seeing your beauty has made me realize how long we have been apart. We have so much to catch up on.” He runs his fingers through my hair. I catch myself before I growl.

“That's very sweet. I apologize though. With my father away on business a lot, I have so many duties to attend to. But please, let me check my schedule, and I will get back to you.” I lie more. I have never done any Alpha duties that I wasn’t forced to do. I hate the thought of running the pack one day. I just want to be a teenager forever. A spoiled teenager forever.

“Wow! I didn’t know that! Beautiful, smart, sexy, and responsible.” He gets so close I become very very uncomfortable. I can feel his heat against me “One day you will make a perfect Luna. Sooner, hopefully. Rather than later.”

I look away to let him know I don’t like this. He leans in, inhaling my scent deeply from my neck. I almost gasp at how incredibly disrespectful he’s being but I’m literally up against a wall and just want him to get away from me. He finally moves back and I walk around him and walk back to the cafeteria.

I don’t even look at the Shadow Heights table. f**k them.

I sit in my seat and my friends look at me worried.

“Everything ok?” Mar asked.

“I DON’T wanna talk about it.” I say quickly. I peek over at the door and Joshua is walking back into the cafeteria smiling at me. I glare at him and turn back to my friends.

I’m so stressed out that when I walk into Geometry I forget that Dustin is in this class. I plop my big ass in my chair and sulk. I look up and see Dustin’s beautiful eyes staring at me worried. My gaze softens and I smile softly at him. He smiles back, a blush appearing across his nose and cheeks. I want to run over and kiss him so bad. I want him to hold me and make me smile like the day in the hallway. I’m so lost in thought that I don’t even notice Joshua, Jackson, and Ronin all walk in and sit behind poor Dustin. Joshua sits right behind him, staring right at me. When I do notice him, I glare at him. Dustin’s face changes and he turns slightly and notices who is there. He looks back at me, his worried look returning.

“Can you believe this s**t? We get rid of a rogue and gain 3 f*****g asshole Shadows.” Pete leans over and whispers. I giggle and lean my head on his arm. He leans back in his chair and puts his arm around me moving my seat closer to him.

I look to Dustin who looks a little hurt. I smile at him and flutter my eyes at him. I want him to know that its nothing to worry about. I look back at Joshua and he looks like he’s raging. I glare at him. I look over to Jackson. He’s glaring at Pete. They for some reason now just hate each other. I look at Ronin, who smiles, so I smile back and we wave at each other. Both Jackson and Joshua look over at Ronin who looks back at them and shrugs.

The class continues and everyone starts to pay attention to the teacher, except Dustin and I. We’re still catching glances at each other. I take out my lip gloss and put some on my finger. I start to rub it into my lips as Dustin stares, losing himself. I slowly push my finger all the way into my mouth and suck on it, slowly licking it as I take it back out. Dustin looks like he’s going to pass out. Then I notice that Jackson and Joshua are both watching me too, mouths open in astonishment. I feel the embarrassment wash over me. I put my lip gloss away and raise my hand to go to the bathroom.

I wander the hallways for a while, finally almost making it back to the classroom. I see Dustin walk out and look around. He walks quickly toward me and grabs my hand and pulls me towards a back hallway under the flight of stairs leading up to the second floor.

Once there, he doesn’t even give me a chance to say anything, he picks me up and wraps my legs around his waist, pushing me against a wall. His lips crash into mine like he had been waiting so long to do so. He grasps my thighs tight while he grinds himself into me. I move myself up against him in return, wanting him just as much as he wants me. My hands grasp onto the back of his shirt, trying to pull him closer, but it isn’t possible. My breasts are pressed so tight against his chest I can feel his heart racing.

We pull apart, catching our breath, bodies still grinding together.

“I missed you, Xan.” He says in his sweet voice that sends shivers up my spine.

“I missed you too, Dustin. I’m sorry for what I said.” I said to him, running kisses down his neck.

“Its ok. I shouldn’t have been like that. I just worry, you know. If Derek finds out. He’s gonna be hurt.” He looks down and slowly lowers me to the floor, his hands running up my thighs and lifting my dress, catching my ass. He lowers my dress and wraps his hands around my waist, leaning down to kiss the top of my head. I bury myself in his chest.

“He’s not you, Dustin. All I ever think about is you.” I feel him freeze.

He hugs me again and kisses my head again. “We should get back to class.”

I start to walk back and Dustin slaps my ass. I jump and let out a whimper. He lets out a low growl. Aha! So he does have a little roughness in him somewhere!

I open the door and walk back in with a stupid love sick smile on my face. I can tell because Pete looks at me like I’m insane. I clear my throat and fix myself as I walk to my seat. Joshua and Jackson stare at me suspiciously.

Not even 2 minutes later, Dustin walks back in with a stupid smirk on his face. We lock eyes and both of us blush and smile. I try to look at the teacher to not make it obvious I’m smiling about him. I look back over at him and chew my pencil and gaze into his beautiful eyes. His blush washes across his face again. Jackson stares at him, eyes narrowing. I watch as Joshua leans his entire desk forward and smells Dustin’s back and his face drops. He looks over at Jackson and then nods at me. I look away to the teacher. I try to watch out of the corner of my eye what happens. I see Joshua tap on Dustin's back and he turns around. Joshua tells him something and points at me and Dustin looks over at me and shakes his head then turns back around and looks to the teacher. Joshua leans over to Jackson and says something. They both look over to me and smile.

Fuck. I don’t like this.

I skip study period as usual. This time its because I’m just flat out terrified of being in a class with that dickhead alone.

I walk onto the bleachers and hear whistles. I smile. I take my usual seat and wait for my usual crowd.

And like clockwork, Shawn appears.

“Damn Xannie! Why don’t you wear outfits like this to parties?” He reaches up and squeezes the patch of thigh showing between my boots and dress.

“I do sometimes. You just don’t go to those parties!” I tease.

“I need your number, so we can get in touch when these parties happen!” He chuckles.

I lean back and snatch my phone out of my bag and pull up my contacts. I hand it to him and smile. He raises his eyebrows. He starts punching in his information. Then starts looking through stuff.

“Hey! What are you doing?” I say, trying to grab my phone back.

“Being nosy!” He says with a smile. He keeps scrolling and then stops and his face changes. He looks up at me with a look of confusion.

I furrow my eyebrows. “What?” I ask.

He bites his lip and lays my phone in my lap, staring at me. 

Its pulled up to the contact ‘My Mate’.

I look back up to him.

He leans into my lap and lowers his voice. “If you don’t want him, Xan, you have to reject him.”

I look away.

He reaches up and takes my chin and pulls it back to look at him. “Its ok, Xan. He may hate you for it at first. But you can’t just ignore the mate bond. You know that.”

I nodded. I feel a tear fall down my cheek.

“You don’t have to tell me who it is.” He smiles. “But please tell me it isn’t Bentley.”

I laugh and shake my head. “No. Its definitely not Bent.”

He exhales a deep breath. “Oh thank Goddess. If you break his heart, he’ll kill the entire pack.”

We both laugh.

I decide I really like Shawn.Yea, sure he's a little kinky when he's got a few drinks in him. But he’s got such a great heart. Where has he been my whole life? I have needed a friend like him for years.
