When Henrietta arrived at work her headache returned, only this time it wasn’t like anything she had felt before. It felt as if her head was going to split open and she started to cry out in pain just as she felt the ground shaking beneath her and her eyes rolled back as if she was having a fit.
Everything in her office floated around her and she too started to levitate, before finally after half a minute her head tipped back and a surge of energy bursted from her breaking almost everything around her, including the windows to her office on the third floor of the building. Everything fell to the floor, including her body, she smacked her head and the impact knocked her out completely.
Evelyn had walked straight home from Henriettas, calling Carly as she walked and asking if she could reschedule today’s jobs as she wasn’t feeling well to which Carly was absolutely fine with. Evelyn knew that this was because she never took days off and Carly actually had pushed her to do so several times in the past.
Evelyn couldn’t help her frustration at everything that was going on surrounding her and Henrietta. When she arrived home she walked straight into her room and plopped onto her bed. She had only been home ten minutes when a sharp, agonising pain practically hit her in the face. Radiating through her entire skull. She had started to scream when all of a sudden the earth started to move. Everything around her was shaking, before she had the chance to look around her eyes rolled into the back of her head and her body started to lift off of her bed, and in turn the blankets and pillows lifted off of her mattress, which lifted off the bed and the bed off the floor, the dirty clothes pile in the corner was floating aswell, in fact everything was floating. And before long Evie had her own burst of energy leave her body and everything she owned fell to the floor.
The mirror on her wardrobe cracked, her bed frame broke upon impact and when she landed on her mattress it fell through the slats and hit the floor where Evie was now laying unconscious.

“Don’t you walk away from me when I’m talking to you, young lady.” Aaron yelled to his daughter.
“I don’t have to listen to this!” She yelled right back as she slammed the door to her bedroom.
This had become their daily ritual over the last two years, ever since Aaron’s wife and Avalon’s mother had died. Not long after Sara’s death, Avalon had starting lashing out and getting into trouble, especially after meeting Timothy who quickly became her first boyfriend.
This mornings fight started because Avalon was refusing to go to work after Aaron had stuck his neck out and begged his friend to give her a chance at a waitressing job at a cafe he owned in town, she had worked one day and was already giving up.
“I didn’t have to help you Ava. You need to start thinking about your future, you need some responsibility. Now please, get dressed.” Aaron implored through the closed door,
All of a sudden he heard her screaming, he tried to turn the door handle but she had locked it. The screaming stopped but her silence was even more concerning to him now, he ran to the kitchen and retrieved a butter knife which he then used to pick at the lock on the door and once it was open he could not believe his eyes. It was as if gravity did not exist in her room, he looked to her face and saw that her eyes were completely white as if she had no pupils, he dropped the knife to the floor and his mouth fell with it. Then, within moments, a gust of power came from her knocking Aaron backwards onto his bottom and everything in her room came crashing down, including her.

Henrietta awoke as the paramedics were wheeling her out of the building, she had tried to ask questions but they only told her to rest and that they’d be at the hospital soon. The hospital was five minutes away from Stone Publishing and once they’d arrived she was bombarded with test after test. Two hours later her boss came by with a box of her things, including her bag and her cellphone. He had told her to rest up and once she was home he would like her to call so they can organise a face to face interview and talk about the incident, she had a feeling it wasn’t going to go her way.
She tried to push all the thoughts out of her head and relax, she didn’t even want to try and comprehend what had happened this morning. Not right now anyway. Maybe her test results would show something abnormal that would explain everything.. a girl can only hope.
Evelyn was shaken awake by a very concerned roommate, Carly had called Mark straight away and so he was there ten minutes after she’d opened her eyes.
“I think we should go to the hospital” he said firmly.
“And what would I say? Hello I had some kind of blackout and trashed my bedroom after I had a migraine all morning?” Evie retorted.
“No. I don’t know. All I know is that I’m worried about you and I don’t think getting checked out is the worst idea in the world.”
“I agree. I have never been so scared in my life, I knew you were home, I knew you weren’t feeling well. I went into your room to check on you and I thought you were dead, the fact that your room was trashed didn’t even register in my head. Your eyes were wide open Evie.” Carly chimed in, her voice dripping with concern.
“No, I’m fine. I just want to get this cleaned up. Please? I don’t need to see a doctor, I have a friend who might be able to help me. I promise I’ll be okay.”
“Well at least let us help you.” Said Mark
“No, I’ve got it. You go home. Give me an hour to clean my room and I’ll come over. I’m not even going to attempt fixing my bed right now.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m positive. I love you”
“I love you too”.
Mark have Evie a kiss on her head, said his goodbyes to Carly who had spent most of that time standing by the door with her arms crossed and then he left.
“Well, you may have him wrapped around your finger, but there’s no way I’m letting up so easy. What the hell is going on?” Asked Carly
“I couldn’t tell you even if I wanted to.”
“Why? Don’t you trust me?” Carly sounded a bit hurt.
“It’s not that. It’s just that I would have to know what was going on myself in order to tell you. I promise once I find out, you’ll be the first person I come to.”
Carly hesitated for a moment and then finally she sighed and dropped her arms before finally answering, “okay.. are you sure you don’t want any help tidying up?”
“I’m okay honestly, I clean for a living you know?” Evie giggled, but Carly wasn’t convinced.
“Let me know if you change your mind.” She said before leaving the room.
As soon as she was gone Evie pulled out her phone and tried to call Henrietta but was sent to voicemail.
She would start cleaning and try again in five minutes.
Henrietta had fallen asleep and four hours had passed, she woke up to a nurse bringing her something for dinner. It was a fowl smelling meatloaf with boiled potato and broccoli on the side, she thanked the nurse and waited for her to leave the room before moving the food away from her bed. She decided that she better get her phone out and ask if Evelyn was alright, they were supposed to talk after work and she was probably worried.
12 missed calls
3 voicemails
1 text message
All from Evie. Hen read the text message first, which was just Evie asking if she was okay, and then she played the first voicemail.
‘Hen where are you? I’m going crazy. Call me ASAP’
‘Hi, me again. I’m starting to worry about you, something super strange happened to me today.
I really need to know if things are normal on your side. Please call.’
‘It’s been hours. I’m coming over.’
Henrietta quickly pressed the call back button and waited, Evie picked up practically straight away.
“Where the hell have you been?? I just left your place after knocking like three times and waiting for twenty minutes!!” Her voice came yelling through the speaker.
“Well, it’s actually a funny story..”
After telling Evie what she remembered of the incident and what had happened to her afterwards, Evie had said she would be right there and then hung up the phone. Fifteen minutes later she was walking into Hens room and explaining that the exact same thing had happened to her, and asking what Hen thought they should do.
Five minutes of silence passed before she’d given Evie an answer. The truth is she didn’t know what they should do, she barely knew what had happened to them this morning.
“I don’t know what we should do, I guess the main thing for now is that we are both okay” Hen said before reaching for Evie’s hand
As their hands made contact there was a zap between them and a vision took them both by surprise.
It was the man they had seen the first time they bumped into eachother, only now it was clear to them that he wasn’t a man at all. In fact, he was a beast. His red eyes glowed as he flashed his sharp teeth to them in an evil smile, before laughing at them.
Suddenly they were back in the present and both of their mouths were hanging open as they stared at eachother.
