Beastly Beauty

I lay on my bed in the middle of the night, still feeling my aching shoulders and stinging scratches. I just got home from the main building and the tiredness was slowly dawning on me. The expensive tuxedo I was wearing earlier is now neatly folded on my chair. My eyes were heavy and all I wanted to do is sleep but there was something on my mind that kept me awake. What is the reason for all of this? I don't know much about business yet but the things that happened earlier wasn't part of the battle that I thought I would be facing after I left the army. The Advertisement that I saw was constructed professionally. There was nothing about it that made me think that it was out of the ordinary except that it was sent especially for me. Apart from the fact that one of the requirements was to have some military background and skills in combats, there was nothing in it that indicated that I would be in on some corporal mess. I thought that the military part was essential for safety purposes that I understood perfectly well, knowing that the owner of the Desilvia Corporation is a female and she has received a mass of death threats. I never thought that the woman that I deemed "helpless" and not able to defend herself could shoot a man without even blinking. Merrylia was known to be brave, feisty, and ruthless, but I doubt that people knew how much worse she could be. But that isn't the only thing bothering me. Mr. Wilfred, that bastard. My fists automatically clenched when I thought of his conceited smirk. All I wanted to do right now is dig my knuckles on his pathetic nose and drive a gun down his throat for the piece of dung that he is... And more importantly, what will happen tomorrow? After all that happened tonight, it seems that my working under her would never be the same again. I continued looking at the ceiling until my eyes got blurry and I sunk into deep slumber. ______________________________________ I felt heat on my face as the sun rays hit my skin from the open window and I slowly opened my eyes. My sister Qeira stood beside my bed, looking down on me with her bright and intelligent blue eyes that was so unlike my green ones. Her facial features reminded me of my dead mother. The way she moves and talks were just like our mother who passed away 5 years ago. "Get up, Qalif. Dad's home." I bolted upright and a wide smile made its way to my face. I stood up quickly and went downstairs and saw my father standing beside the table with a cheeky grin as my other sisters pouted and looked at him accusingly. He must be teasing them. "Dad! I thought you were going home next week?" I said as I walked up to him. "Ah, there you are son. It's like a breath of fresh air to see a face of a male specie that looks as handsome as I." He said, his green eyes sparkling with humour. He hugged me and ruffled my hair as he chuckled lightly. I looked over to my sisters, their faces still grim with annoyance. "What seems to be the problem here?" I asked. "Oh, nothing really, Qalif. I'm just telling them how you punched Qeira's boyfriend's nose in." He laughed. "Why are you telling us this? I'm not even planning to have a boyfriend!" Xyra said, her eye brows raised. "But I am!" Reena said, making my father choke on his coffee. "No you are not! Especially you, Reena. You can't even fix your own bed yet!" "That's why I want a boyfriend! So I could hound him off to do the things I don't want to do." She replied, which made me and father laugh. "You're just like your mother. I've gone through great many things before I could even kiss her hand. She was strong independent and smart. I always wondered how I was able to make her fall inlove with me apart from being damnably handsome." Father said with love. His eyes were bright and happy, reliving the days when he and mother were together. "Ugh, why did you have to say the last part." Qeira joined in with a smile on her face. "I only ever say the truth dearie. Just look at your brother, he looks just like me!" "Yes, I wish he got mother's dark hair. You know, to make him look more manly." Reena butted in, pointing at my hair. "And I wish he would comb his hair less meticulously. So he would have that bad boy aura that only comes out when he's about to punch the living daylights out of Jake." Xyra added, gesturing at the house infront of ours. It's where Jake, the perverted punk, lives. We were friends back in highschool but things got ugly when he started to envy the attention that was given to me unintentionally. He thought I was playing good boy and he should nudge me a little bit so people would see my bad side. Let's say that they did see it, after I beat him up on the parking lot of our school for hitting on my sister. He got way more than what he bargained for and he doesn't want to admit it and continues to bother me even until now. "Yeah, so him and Ms. Desilvia would suit each other!" Reena giggled and I widened my eyes. "Reena! She's my boss!" I scolded her. "Umm, Qalif looks too much like gentleman to handle such beastly beauty." Xyra said, which made me glance at her. "That's what I thought too, with your mother. I remember how she stood out on a crowded place and how people parted to make a way for her. She was like a wild fire, so beautiful and harmful. She draws you in but when you get too close she would drive you away. But women like that, needs understanding. That's how I got to her. She warmed up to me and the next thing you know, we were both on fire." Father looked up at me and smiled very mischieviously. "Your boss is quite a beauty don't you think? A wild one. Beautiful and dangerous. Just like your mother. I always knew we had the same taste." "No father, I'm not attracted to her! She's my boss and I'm her secretary, nothing more." I said, shaking my head. "Really? So why is your face red right now?" "No it's not, Father. She's beautiful, I'll admit. But a girl like that is too much. I wouldn't even be able to touch her with a ten-foot pole." I said, my chest pounding loudly. "Is that true? Then can you explain that?" Qeira said, pointing at our open television. There, flashing on the screen, is a footage of me carrying Merrylia out of Wilfred Enterprises' building.
