Chapter 4: Close to you

LISA

I can't believe it was her again and to think that she's the daughter of the woman I saved from being robbed today. I'm not the type to believe in fate but meeting by chance twice on the same day? Tell me that's not meant to be. She was wearing nothing but a sports bra and some yoga pants which were both a little bit drenched in her sweat. Her exposed skin was wet with layers of her excretes highlighting her already visibly toned abs. She must've went for a run. Her hair was tied up in a messy pony tail but it made her look more... attractive.

I had to stop my jaw from dropping the entire time. Before I was able to speak, her mom entered the room with a tray of food on one hand. She then greeted her daughter and explained everything that happened today. The annoyed expression on Jennie's face that was from seeing me, changed into a calmer state. She then proceeded to thanking me then went into her room.

It was cold but I'll take it. Who am I to complain right?

"Sorry about my daughter. She isn't very friendly. She's secretive and only has a couple of friends." Jennie's mom explained. "Oh that's alright, I understand. She's just introverted, right?" I asked. "I don't know about being introverted because she's quite involved in extra curriculars at school. She is exposed to many people everyday, but majority of it is professional. She's just not used to casual conversation." She explained. This girl just gets more interesting huh?

"I couldn't help but notice a picture of your daughter on stage with a microphone. Is she a singer?" I asked. "Well singing is one of her many talents. Jennie has always been the competitive type. Although she isn't born talented, she compensates for hard work and it shows." She answered. "Well I'm sure that's just the result of you raising her well." I replied. It made Gina smile.

*THUNDERCLAPS* *RAINFALL*

As we got deep into conversation it started raining with loud claps of thunder. After a little bit the power went out so suddenly. The view outside the windows were pitch black and the living room was filled with nothing but the earsplitting cracks of thunder and the sound of heavy pouring rain against the metal roof. There must be a black out.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

We both heard screaming from Jennie's room. I heard a sound of a door opening so I decided to turn my phone light on. As I opened and pointed it to the direction of the sound, I was surprised to see Jennie sprinting over to my direction. She ran from her room and pounced on the couch where me and her mom were seated.

*THUMP* Ouch.

She landed on me and hugged me tightly whilst whimpering like a lost little puppy. My phone flew somewhere in the room faced down, The light that was pointing to the ceiling slightly illuminated the room.

After a few short breaths Jennie calmed down and slowly opened her eyes to see her arms wrapped around the girl she called a pervert earlier today. The moment she realized it wasn't her mom she was hugging, she immediately let go, fixed herself and brought her cold façade back up. What a shame, I really liked the whimpering puppy side better. "I'm sorry" she said while tinkering with her long sleeved shirt, not making any eye contact due to the embarrassment. I didn't answer immediately. I was so busy studying her face in dim lighting. She was still so beautiful even if I could barely see her face.

She noticed that I was staring at her and decided to cover her face. "No, it's fine. I get scared of these as well when I was a kid" I said. "But unlike you Jennie is still afraid of these things haha!" Gina inserted. I totally forgot that she was in the same room. "Mom I'm not a little kid anymore! I just have a phobia of the dark!" Jennie exclaimed. "Don't be ridiculous honey, you're still my little baby." Gina replied. Even though it's dark, I could feel Jennie's face heating up from the embarrassment. What a cutie.

After about an hour and a half of quietness, which was super awkward by the way, the lights went back on. "Thank goodness" Gina said with a sigh of relief. Jennie stayed on the couch since it was still pouring hard outside with consecutive loud cracks of thunder, obviously afraid of being by herself.

I checked my watch. It was already 9:30 PM. It's getting pretty late. "I should probably head home, It's getting late" I said. "You should stay the night dear" Gina responded. I was about to decline when Jennie inserted "The roads aren't safe under these conditions." Woah is she concerned for me? Pinch me I must be dreaming. "You could stay in Jennie's room" Gina added. Could this day get any better? I observed Jennie's reaction. 'This is a bad idea' was written all over her face.

"I wouldn't want to impose. I can sleep here on the sofa" I suggested since I could clearly see Jennie's discomfort. "Nonsense dear. The sofa is not very comfortable. You and Jennie can share the bed." Gina protested. "I could just sleep with you in your room mom, Lisa can use my room." Jennie suggested. "Well alright. Show her to your room first and lend her some sleepwear." Gina replied.

JENNIE

I'm letting someone I just met today sleep on my bed, oh and did I mention she's a pervert? What the hell Jennie? My face is perfectly calm yet I was trying so hard to cover up the fact that I was internally panicking. I'm trying to process why and how this happened, weighing the pros and cons of this very situation as I motioned for her to follow me into my room.

"Goodnight girls" Mom said. "Goodnight mom." "Goodnight ma'am." We said in unison which made us look at each other. She let out a soft chuckle. It was really cute. Wait what? Get a hold of yourself Jennie. I quickly turned around to face my bedroom door. We entered my room and I offered her a pair of my pajamas which she then accepted. I obviously can't let her sleep in casual clothing. Who knows what filthy places she's been in today. I closed the closet behind me and as I turn around, this girl... is shirtless. She's still wearing a bra but I could see her well defined abs. She must work out a lot. I have those too though, better even.

"You better close your mouth princess, it's wide enough for a fly to enter." She said after noticing that I've been staring for a bit. Of course she'd notice Jennie, you're literally 3 feet apart from each other. "What are you talking about?" I said as I made a beeline for the bed.

"Don't play dumb." she said as she wore the shirt I gave her. She proceeded to remove her pants but before she got to do so I immediately interjected "We have a bathroom you know." I said while trying to look away but could still visibly see her in my peripheral vision. "I don't think that's necessary, besides we're both girls. Whatever I have, you have it too" she said. "Unless I'm turning you on?" she continued with a huge grin on her face. "I-I-" Why the hell am I stuttering?? "You're blushing princess" she teased.

"Whatever. Do as you please." I said as I cover my face from the embarrassment. She just let out a soft chuckle. Moments later I felt her weight as she sat down on the other side of the bed. "Hey nini, would you like me to turn the lights off?" She whispered.

I immediately sat up and looked at her confusingly "Nini?". "Yeah. From now on that's what I'll call you." She said with a stupid smile on her face. "That's a ridiculous nickname! Would you like it if I called you Lili?" I asked. "But of course! I think it's cute and besides, it's way better than PERV" she said imitating my angry expression from our unconventional first encounter earlier today. My annoyance was relieved as we laughed about it. We then started talking about random things, she's been really goofy and has been flirting with me the entire time but I'd just take it as a joke.

The rain kept pouring and the thunder was still loud but for once I wasn't afraid. After the recent conversation died down, we both fell into a comfortable silence then I drifted into sleep. I completely forgot to transfer to my mom's room but I felt safe and comfortable here so I just let the situation be.

5:37 AM

My bedside clock was the first thing I saw after opening my eyes. I woke up earlier than usual. I blinked a few times and gave my joints a good stretch. I wobbled my waist then rolled on to the other side. That's when I saw her face the closest I've ever gotten to. Her nose an inch close to mine. I didn't realize that I was already observing her features. She has these almond eyes with eyelashes that could go on for days, a cute nose, lips that I could only imagine are soft because of its plumpness and the perfect facial structure to complement everything together. I might have been wrong to think that she's anything less of a good person just because she seems to lack the attitude of one. But I know now, you are something else. I've never seen her this close and– so peaceful. "You are so beautiful Lili" I whispered. She flashed a soft smile. With her breathing still in a slow pace I'm sure she's still asleep. I could feel my heart beat the fastest I've ever felt it to. I am so confused.

LISA

I woke up to find myself in a stranger's room. Did I get laid? Wait- Oh that's right, I slept beside Nini. Is it better than getting laid? Weirdly enough, yes, but— she's no longer here. She must be preparing breakfast. I walked out her bedroom door after changing back into my clothes from yesterday. She's about to leave wearing casual clothes so I asked "Hey Nini Good Morning! Where are you headed?" with a huge grin on my face. She turned to look at me with a blank expression. Her cold gaze just sent shivers down my spine "My name is Jennie" she said, then left.

I was left there dumbfounded and confused, staring at their front door for 5 minutes straight.
