Within three days, two of his former lieutenants were found dead in The Cut. A warehouse on Pier 8 burned to the ground. Shots were fired outside a shelter in Iron District. No one claimed responsibility. No one was arrested.
Miller called Adam at the garage.
“Ruslan's crew is fighting over his territory. We're seeing bodies every night.”
“What about Marcus? Are they still targeting him?”
“Not yet. But it's only a matter of time. Someone will want to make an example. Show that they're not afraid of you.”
“Where can I send him?”
“Out of the city. Maybe out of the state. Somewhere no one knows his name.”
“His mother won't leave. She has a job. A life.”
“Then you need to protect them both.”
