It was after five by the time he got back to the office. Ruby was on duty.
First thing out of her mouth, “Rose called and sounded worried.”
“Everything else okay?”
“A couple minor problems that Kip took care of. He is still out on patrol. Other than that we're good.”
“Good, thanks.” He found three memos on his desk left by Trish. One said that Milfred Oakley called and wanted him to call back.
He called Rose first. “Hi.”
“I haven't heard from you all day and I was getting worried. Where you been?”
“Mille Lacs lake.”
“You had time for a fishing trip?”
“In a manner of speaking, yes. I think you'll be interested.”
“When can you be here? I have some interesting news too.”
“Let me go home and clean up, then I'll be there. Give me an hour.”
