Chapter 3

Chapter 3That night Mick slept more soundly than he had in a long time. The next morning, he headed for the station wondering if any progress had been made by Detective Knutson. He had only been at the office a few minutes when Rose called. “Morning, I'm glad I caught you,” Rose said. “I hope you're not calling about the disappointing meal last night,” Mick said. “Are you kidding, one of the best meals ever.” Laughing, “I know that isn't true, but nice of you to say. You made it a wonderful night. I suspect that is not the reason you called. What's up?” “You don't think it might be that I just wanted to hear your voice.” “Nice dodge. I suspect there is something else.” “Alright, dual reason for calling. I did want to hear your voice, but there is something else. Detective Knutson is going to talk to the press this morning.” Standing, turning serious, “Is it about our murder?” “Not sure, but I think so. I wanted you to know. Can you make it?” “No, there were a few car break ins last night that I need to check out. Can you let me know what he says?” “I'll call you. Gotta run. Can you come to dinner tonight?” “Wouldn't miss it. See ya.” “You betchya, talk to you soon. Bye.” Keplar sat there still holding the phone, thinking. Has Knutson found something and if so, why haven't I been informed.
